Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Marketing and Business Development Manager to support our global Sectors team. As part of the role, you will support the Aerospace and Defense sector and the Automotive and Mobility sector. You will work closely with colleagues across the U.S., Europe and Asia, supporting stakeholders who sit primarily in Washington D.C. and Munich.
Flexibility is key in managing the competing demands from the various stakeholders, but in return you will get to demonstrate your skills across the full marketing and business development mix - from pitching and client account management to external profile raising and internal engagement activities.
JOB DESCRIPTION
PLANNING & BUDGETING
- Leading and supporting the development and implementation of business plans
- Delivering market research, client analysis, and internal intelligence to support the business planning process
- Ensuring the sector leadership teams and any sub-groups are meeting regularly to deliver on the plans
MARKETING CAMPAIGNS, THOUGHT LEADERSHIP & PROFILE RAISING
- Growing the sectors in the market and with key clients
- Planning, creating, and managing the implementation of marketing communications, including seminars and client events, CLE trainings, client facing materials, external conference attendance, and web and social media content
- Leading on directory and award submissions in the U.S. and supporting global submissions
- Supporting input coordination for sector-specific thought leadership publications
EVENTS & SPONSORSHIPS
- Evaluating, coordinating, and executing sponsorships; Negotiating agreements and managing participation in sponsorships in order to ensure that the firm maximizes return on its investment
- Producing, managing, and supporting seminars, receptions, and other marketing-oriented events and activities, including but not limited to event promotion, development of invitations and other client communications, concept development, and vendor selection
- Working with the sector head(s), and leadership teams to plan internal meetings and retreats
CLIENT DEVELOPMENT
- Monitoring and analyzing client financial performance and internal review meetings and supporting the team on the portfolio of clients within the sectors
- Conducting client feedback and acting as client account manager for key clients
PITCHES & NEW BUSINESS GENERATION
- Supporting on sector-led pitch opportunities
- Liaising with global Pitch team and other M&BD team members to provide input to other sector, practice, and firm-wide pitches
- Creating and maintaining a suite of standard targeting materials, including master credentials documents
INTERNAL COMMUNICATION & KNOWLEDGE SHARING
- Leading sector working group efforts
- Maintaining key M&BD resources, including materials on the firm's external website and global intranet
- Partner with M&BD leadership to promote our capabilities across the firm, including through global retreats, internal newsletters, conference calls, meetings, and intranet
PROJECTS
- Managing and contributing to wider M&BD projects as required, including the development of the firm-wide industry program
- Managing ad hoc inquiries about the sector and its clients from other parts of the firm or members of the M&BD team
- Specific duties or responsibilities may be reviewed from time to time to reflect changes in personnel and management structure, Business Team location, and services
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects
- Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure
- Excellent project management skills
- Pragmatic, diplomatic, and resourceful, with the ability to adapt quickly to different situations and personalities
- Experience working independently, as well as within cross-functional and global teams, in a collaborative and professional environment
- Collaborative and team-minded
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and an exacting attention to detail in all work products.
- Enthusiasm and dedication to the development of a professional services marketing career
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Seven (7) or more years of marketing experience, preferably in a legal or professional services environment, including at least two (2) years of experience in a managerial role
- Bachelor's degree with a focus in marketing, communications, or business
- Master's degree preferred
- Knowledge of the automotive & mobility and the aerospace and defense industries highly desirable
HOURS
Core hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., including lunch hour, with flexibility to work additional hours as needed.
In Washington, DC, the annualized salary range for this position is $128,000 to $188,000 depending on the candidate's overall experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full time employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus. In addition, full time employees as well as some part time employees, will be eligible for the firm's fringe benefits as they currently exist.
