About Us:

At the forefront of medical discovery as it relates to understanding the causes of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and dementia, Pennington Biomedical Research Center is a campus of Louisiana State University and conducts basic, clinical and population research. The Center includes Basic Science, Clinical Research, and Population and Public Health, enabling both focused research and translational science. Research at Pennington Biomedical is supported broadly by multiple NIH Research Centers, and includes approximately 65 faculty and 20 postdoctoral fellows who comprise a network of 44 laboratories and 13 highly specialized core service facilities. Pennington Biomedical is located within state-of-the-art research facilities on a 222-acre campus in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Job Description:

Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a world-renowned academic research institute of Louisiana State University, is seeking an ISG Analyst 2 in Computing Services.

The ISG Analyst 2 supports the deployment and maintenance of enterprise IT infrastructure, including server systems, virtualization platforms, and backup environments. This role may also contribute to systems integration and Tier 2 support, helping ensure secure, reliable services for research and institutional operations. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical and communication skills, can manage multiple priorities, and works effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Major Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain Windows-based servers and critical applications supporting research and operational functions.

  • Assist in the deployment, configuration, and support of physical and virtual server infrastructure, network hardware, and structured cabling.

  • Proactively monitor system performance and availability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues, ensuring high reliability and security.

  • Support and manage virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V, along with shared storage solutions.

  • Perform routine data backup and recovery operations, ensuring data integrity and business continuity.

  • Participate in the evaluation, testing, and implementation of new IT hardware and software solutions.

  • Adhere to organizational data security policies and compliance standards.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date technical documentation, procedures, and system configurations.

  • Provide Tier 2 technical support for systems and applications, escalating complex issues to senior staff or specialized teams as necessary.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent work experience (four (4) to six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in IT systems administration, infrastructure support, or a closely related technical field).

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in systems analysis or a similar IT role.

  • Extensive experience in the Microsoft Windows ecosystem, including many of the following: Windows Server, Windows 7/10, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, NPS, IIS, SCCM, WSUS, RDS, CIFS.

  • Significant experience working with Server and Network hardware in a data center environment and related power/copper/fiber infrastructure management.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Effective communication skills for working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Experience in one or more of the following: Commvault Simpana or other enterprise tape backup environment, network security, router, firewall, and switch administration, Linux/LAMP administration, Office 365 administration, phone systems (PBX), remote desktop environments, Enterprise Network Storage, 802.11 Wireless/WiFi.

Hiring range: $65,000 - $75,000
