Job Description

Richland County Government seeks a detail-oriented and proactive Financial Technician / Assistant to provide critical support to the Director of Budget and Strategic Management and the Budget and Grants team. This position is integral to enhancing departmental efficiency and ensuring business continuity through administrative support, financial research, professional writing, and Workday system assistance.

The successful candidate will possess strong writing and research skills, be highly organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced local government environment. The role supports budget development, grant administration, business continuity planning, and system build-out initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Scheduling & Administrative Support:

  • Coordinate and manage calendars and appointments for the Director and Budget and Grants team.

  • Schedule meetings, prepare agendas, take meeting notes, and follow up on action items.

Financial Research & Analysis:

  • Conduct research and compile data for budget requests, grant funding opportunities, and financial simulations.

  • Assist in analyzing and summarizing data for presentations and reports.

Professional Writing & Documentation:

  • Assist the Director in drafting and editing policies, procedures, reports, and business continuity plans.

  • Ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency in written communications and official documentation.

Workday System Support:

  • Support configuration, testing, and documentation of budgeting and grant-related Workday processes.

  • Assist with workflow development and system improvements to support Richland County's financial operations.

Departmental Efficiency & Business Continuity:

  • Assist in maintaining and updating business continuity procedures to ensure uninterrupted service deliver.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Public Administration, Business, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

  • Strong writing and research skills with the ability to produce clear, concise, and well-organized documents.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and meet deadlines.

  • Commitment to confidentiality and ethical conduct.
