Human Resource Generalist
Job Summary
The Human Resource Generalist will assist with the daily functions of the Human Resource Department including recruiting, onboarding, leave, company policies, and practices.
Essential Duties
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Assist as needed with recruiting
- Could be asked to help organize and attend job fairs among other networking opportunities
- Ensure smooth onboarding process
- Schedule safety training and testing for all new hires
- Complete pre-employment screening
- Maintain and update the HRIS
HR Compliance & Record Keeping
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records (e.g., I-9's, personnel files, training records, DOT, etc.)
- Assist with audits and reporting as required
- Ensure data integrity and confidentiality
Employee Relations
- Serve as a point of contact for employee questions, concerns, and conflict resolution
- Assist in directing employee complaints or violations of company policies to appropriate leaders
- Promote a positive workplace culture and employee engagement
Training & Development
- Assist with coordination of employee training and development initiatives
- Assist with tracking mandatory training
Policy Development & Enforcement
- Assist with developing and updating HR policies and the Employee Handbook.
- Communicate HR policies and procedures to employees clearly and consistently
Required Skills & Abilities
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
- Excellent communication skills- verbal, written, and interpersonal
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism
- Strong problem solving and conflict resolution abilities
- Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in documentation and data entry
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments and companies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or related field preferred.
- At least two years of human resources or related experience required
- PHR or SHRM-CP preferred
