Job Description:

The Coordinator of International Student Engagement (ISE) is a critical member of the Office of Global Engagement at Louisiana State University. The position works closely with the Director of International Student Engagement in providing support, community, and advocacy on behalf of the LSU community. The coordinator assists in designing and delivering comprehensive programming aiming to better facilitate students' academic and cultural experience at LSU and create a more global connected campus. This position executes international student orientation in collaboration with the Director of International Student Engagement and reports directly to the Director of ISE.

Job Responsibilities:

Student and Community Programing: 35%

In collaboration with the Director of ISE and campus partners, develop academic and co-curricular programming that aims to develop and enhance LSU's student community through cross-cultural exchange and fully integrates all students into the LSU, Baton Rouge, and greater Louisiana communities. Assist the Director in designing and delivering engaging intercultural and leadership programs that connect all students with local culture, resources, and opportunities for global engagement.

International Student Orientation: 25%

In collaboration with the Director of ISE, Office of Global Engagement, and academic colleges, fully execute a comprehensive international student orientation for both undergraduate and graduate students. Work with the Director of ISE to offer pre-arrival orientation for international students.

Global Community Center: 20%

Manage day-to-day tasks of the Global Community Center (GCC), including setting up the space for programming, events, etc. Oversee space rentals for student programming and Baton Rouge community rentals. Facilitate and simplify the rental process for student groups and community members. Supervise student staff while focusing on leadership and skills development. Work with the Director of ISE to raise the Center's profile as a programming and intercultural space. Assist in fostering and maintaining outstanding donor relations vis a vis the GCC.

Marketing and Communications: 15%

Assist the Director of ISE in promoting internationalization and intercultural competence at the university-wide level. In collaboration with the Director of ISE implement strategies to promote facility rentals in the Baton Rouge community. Work with the Director to revamp GCC's communications strategies for programming purposes.

Other Duties as Assigned. 5%

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree

Specific Experience: Progressive experience working with international students and/or student affairs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with 1-2 years of experience

Specific Experience: Experience with program development in a University setting. Experience in marketing. International education experience.

Additional Requirements:

FERPA -As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services. Should a student appear in need of or seek assistance with issues of an emotional, behavioral, or mental health related matter they should be referred to the proper service within the Student Health Center. In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students or the appropriate law enforcement agency. The employee outside of those rights contained within FERPA should create no impression of client or patient confidentiality.

Additional Information:

Occasional evening, holiday, or weekend hours. The Coordinator must be available for early morning and/or evening programs and special circumstances that may arise. The Coordinator must be eligible to drive as needed on official University business.
