Senior Pastry Cook - (Wedding Cake Decorator)

Summary: The Pastry Senior Cook (Wedding Cake Decorator) will be responsible for creating and decorating wedding cakes, alongside other pastry and bakery items. This role requires a skilled individual with a strong understanding of pastry techniques and a commitment to quality and teamwork.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• A specialist in the trade, techniques, and methods of Pastry and Bakery - knowing the major elements of fine pastry from classic tart dough to puff pastry, from multilayered cakes to bite-sized petit fours, from a variety of breads to pound cakes.
• Responsible for requisitions, pars, and orders necessary to serve pertinent food stations.
• Maintains quality inventory control of said production area.
• Measures and mixes ingredients, using an electric mixer or beating and stirring ingredients by hand.
• Shapes dough for cookies, pies, and fancy pastries.
• Places shaped dough portions in greased or floured pans and inserts them in the oven.
• Prepares and cooks ingredients for pie fillings, puddings, custards, or other desserts. Mixes ingredients to make icings.
• Decorates cakes, pastries, and other creative desserts, with a specific focus on wedding cakes.
• Ability to follow recipe and production planning sheets.
• Assists supervisor with putting together orders when needed.
• Helps to orient new team members.
• Assists less experienced cooks with understanding and reading recipes as needed.

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

• 1 to 2 years professional pastry experience preferred.
• Is always clean and neat, in proper uniform, including nametag and slip-resistant shoes.
• Reports to work on time; signs and swipes in properly.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English with Team members and guests.
• Ability to be a TEAM player.
• Ability to successfully fulfill the pre-employment process.
• Ability to work flexible shifts and days of the week including holidays

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of standing
• Regular bending, stretching, twisting, and reaching
• Ability to push/pull objects weighing up to 25 pounds frequently
