Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced, results-driven Landscape / Construction Estimator to join our team. This role is responsible for identifying bidding opportunities, preparing accurate estimates, and helping grow our backlog and future revenue. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in landscape, site work, and general construction estimating and is comfortable working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and procure bidding opportunities through various channels to support company growth.

• Read and interpret project plans, drawings, and specifications to prepare detailed quantity take-offs and material price estimates.

• Develop clear and comprehensive project cost summaries and present results and recommendations to internal teams and clients.

• Explain estimates to potential clients and answer questions about scope, pricing, and assumptions.

• Collaborate with LJM team members, landscape architects, clients, general contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.

• Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects, and services by tracking actual project costs relative to estimates.

• Recommend improvements to estimating procedures, ensuring historical data and lessons learned are incorporated into future bids.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience

• 3+ years of estimating experience in landscape construction, site work, or general construction.

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or similar (preferred).

• Proficient with CAD and other landscape or construction design software.

• Experience with Bluebeam and RSMeans (or similar estimating tools).

• Strong working knowledge of:

  • Landscape construction and site work

  • Asphalt paving

  • Concrete and masonry

  • Fencing

  • General building techniques and basic engineering concepts

• Ability to read, interpret, and follow blueprints, site plans, and technical documents.

• Familiarity with applicable building codes, laws, and regulations.

• Understanding of construction scheduling, bidding, and estimating best practices.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
