What You'll Do Provide strategic and clinical leadership for counseling and advocacy services Manage daily operations, staff development, hiring, supervision, and team culture for an 11-person staff Lead innovative, artist-centered models of care, including rapid-access counseling, community engagement, and group services Oversee crisis response, hospitalization protocols, and postvention planning in partnership with the CARES and BIT teams Serve as a key consultant on complex student issues and student readiness for return before and/or after medical leave Ensure compliance with legal and ethical mandates, Title IX, and Clery Act regulations Build collaborations with key partners across Student Success, Health & Wellness, Equity Leadership, and Academic Affairs Maintain data reporting systems and manage the unit's operating budget Schedule & Availability This is an exempt, salaried position that requires flexibility for occasional evening and weekend hours, particularly during key campus events such as Commencement, Orientation, Check-In Days, Open Houses, and other student-focused programming. The Union College department of Psychology seeks a clinical or counseling psychologist for a half-time Visiting Assistant Professor for the 2025-2026 academic year (to start January 1, 2026). This position is benefits-eligible. Our new colleague will teach two courses each year (winter and spring trimesters; early January through mid-June 2026), which are components of our year-long clinical sequence: Clinical Psychology 2: Interventions (with a lab), and Clinical Psychology 3: Internship. Clinical Psychology 2: Interventions covers theories of psychotherapy and communication, and with an experiential lab section. In Clinical Psychology 3: Internship, advanced students spend ten hours per week at supervised internship sites in the community, and meet one class section per week for group supervision. Many of our students are interested in pursuing careers in the helping professions, and continue on to masters, doctoral, or pre-med programs. There would also be opportunities to mentor clinically-bound students, to supervise senior thesis projects, and conduct one's own independent research, if desired. Visiting faculty and their students are eligible for generous research grant funding offered by the college and conference travel funding. About the Job Colorado Christian University is a teaching institution that emphasizes exceptional faculty teaching and achievement of student learning outcomes, within the framework of spiritual formation, as the highest priority. Affiliate faculty for the Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program are highly qualified professionals with an earned doctorate in counselor education, from a CACREP-accredited program, or have a related doctoral degree and experience as a licensed professional counselor. They are able to integrate their Christian faith in the classroom to disciple the next generation of Christian leaders in the professional counseling profession. The primary role of the affiliate faculty is teaching which focuses on instruction, assessment of student learning outcomes, and program evaluation. Most courses are offered in an accelerated format with synchronous and asynchronous components. Core courses are taught using blended formats designed for adult learners. The Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program is a year-round program. This is not a full time position. An Affiliate Faculty position (often called Adjunct Faculty in higher education) with CCU can be for either our College of Adult and Graduate Studies (CAGS) or College of Undergraduate Studies (CUS). This is an opening for CAGS, which typically offers classes in an online environment using our Learning Management System (Brightspace). Some CAGS classes are in-seat at a center in the state of Colorado; however, the trend in most programs is for the majority of students to attend online. Most classes meet for five weeks, however some classes are offered in 7, 9, and 10 week formats. Upon submitting a resume and application, those candidates who are selected for the next steps are offered the opportunity to complete a one-way video interview. This video interview is reviewed by the Human Resources department and then sent to the appropriate dean for further review. Each dean has a review and selection process, which may include in-person interviews or evaluations. All candidates will be notified of the outcome of the hiring process. Those who are selected join the CAGS Affiliate Faculty pool and are vetted to teach courses based on their qualifications and relevant experience. Offers for courses are determined based on student enrollment and on how many other faculty are in their respective area of expertise. Affiliates are expected to learn about CCU and its policies through the University's Faculty Development team where each Affiliate Faculty member is asked to complete a series of badges to show they have completed the training required to teach at CCU. Affiliates must complete the required badge training to remain in the teaching pool. All affiliates are paid on a per-class contract basis and are classified as affiliate employees of CCU; affiliates are not considered regular part-time employees. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Student Support Services, the Director oversees Berklee's campus-wide mental health counseling and survivor advocacy programs. Leading a team of dedicated professionals-including licensed mental health clinicians, graduate interns, and a survivor advocate-the Director sets the strategic vision for confidential services rooted in equity, access, and trauma-informed care.

This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a licensed clinician who brings deep expertise in student mental health, experience in higher education, and a passion for shaping holistic, culturally responsive care for the next generation of musicians, performers, and creatives.

What You'll Do

  • Provide strategic and clinical leadership for counseling and advocacy services
  • Manage daily operations, staff development, hiring, supervision, and team culture for an 11-person staff
  • Lead innovative, artist-centered models of care, including rapid-access counseling, community engagement, and group services
  • Oversee crisis response, hospitalization protocols, and postvention planning in partnership with the CARES and BIT teams
  • Serve as a key consultant on complex student issues and student readiness for return before and/or after medical leave
  • Ensure compliance with legal and ethical mandates, Title IX, and Clery Act regulations
  • Build collaborations with key partners across Student Success, Health & Wellness, Equity Leadership, and Academic Affairs
  • Maintain data reporting systems and manage the unit's operating budget

Schedule & Availability

This is an exempt, salaried position that requires flexibility for occasional evening and weekend hours, particularly during key campus events such as Commencement, Orientation, Check-In Days, Open Houses, and other student-focused programming. Availability for urgent and unplanned needs-such as student crises or community response efforts-is also expected.

While private practice or outside employment is not prohibited, candidates should thoughtfully consider these scheduling needs when applying for or accepting this role.

Who You Are

  • Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field
  • Current licensure in Massachusetts (LICSW, LMHC, LMFT, or licensed psychologist) or license-eligible at time of hire
  • 5-7 years of post-licensure experience, including progressive leadership and staff supervision
  • Experience in higher education, particularly with diverse, international, and artistically driven student populations
  • Strong commitment to equity, inclusion, and cultural responsiveness in mental health and advocacy services
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care, rapid-access models, and creative approaches to outreach and education
  • High emotional intelligence, systems thinking, and crisis response expertise
