See how your contributions will help transform vision into reality: Position Overview: As Part of the FBC Marine Operating Center Team, the Prep and Rig Technician is responsible for preparing, maintaining, and outfitting a variety of marine vessels to ensure they are safe, clean, and water ready. This role involves mechanical installation, paint application, equipment rigging, and assisting with vessel movements in the yard. The ideal candidate has hands-on marine experience, strong attention to detail, a team-first attitude, and is comfortable working outdoors in a physically active role. Essential Functions: Responsible for installing safety and mechanical equipment and applying paint coatings on marine vessels using specialized tools. The role requires adherence to safety protocols, laws, and regulations. Ideal candidates should be safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and team players with a positive attitude. Prepare boat bottoms by scraping, sanding, grinding, and cleaning surfaces. Apply epoxy primers, anti-fouling paints, and other coatings using spray equipment or by hand. Identify and properly apply various paint types for specific marine applications. Install safety and mechanical equipment including life jackets, fire extinguishers, throw cushions, anchors, etc. Check and maintain appropriate fluid levels such as oils and grease in vessels. Ensure vessels are clean, fully equipped, and ready for water before departure. Assist with vessel hauling, launching, rigging, unloading, and yard staging. Sand, prep, mask, and protect surfaces to ensure a professional finish. Handle hazardous materials safely; ensure proper storage and disposal of solvents, paints, and waste. Keep accurate work records, including timecards and vessel-specific documentation. Perform general yard duties, including maintenance and equipment upkeep. Maintain tools and company equipment, report issues to the manager. Comply with all safety protocols, laws, and regulations. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (e.g., respirators) as needed. Complete tasks on time and be available for overtime when necessary. Perform other duties as assigned.
