Job Summary:

The Department of Psychiatry (DOP) at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Division of Child and Adolescent Mental Health (DCAMH) invites applications for a School-Based PMHNP to provide direct patient care at Traverse Academy. Traverse Academy is a school-based intensive mental health treatment program within the Cherry Creek School District (CCSD). It will be an integrated school and intensive outpatient treatment center, including specialized transition programming, for students with significant and impairing emotional and/or behavioral disorders. The program is part of an effort to reduce risk for self-injurious behavior and suicide through collaborative school-academic partnerships and facilitate a smooth transition from intensive treatment to the student's home school.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ability to apply and implement evidence-based approaches to care including using evidence based guidelines for prescriptions and monitoring medications in the pediatric population.

• Able to perform initial psychiatric diagnostic interviews, develop and follow through with treatment plans, and maintain timely and focused documentation through the electronic medical record.

• Providing preceptor experiences for APRN students with the appropriate experience and certification from the University of Colorado-Anschutz College of Nursing.

• Member of a multidisciplinary setting consisting of physicians, family therapists, psychologists, and trainees.

• Carry a case load on the outpatient psychiatric unit and in the partial hospitalization program.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Instructor or Senior Instructor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below. The ranks are based on how many years a candidate has been licensed and if they want to pursue the promotions track.

Instructor:

• 1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.

• Minimum degree qualifications: APRN or PA

• APRN applicants must possess a Colorado RN license and Board Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). Prescriptive authority is required.

• PA applicants must be nationally certified by the NCCPA and have passed the Psychiatry Specialty Exam (CAQ).

• Must have prior experience in a Child Psychiatric setting (may include experience as a RN prior to APRN training).

Senior Instructor:

• 1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.

• Minimum degree qualifications: APRN or PA

• APRN applicants must possess a Colorado RN license and Board Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). Prescriptive authority is required.

• PA applicants must be nationally certified by the NCCPA and have passed the Psychiatry Specialty Exam (CAQ).

Track:

Open Track: To support the growth of our faculty, selected candidates at the Assistant Professor level or higher will be offered the opportunity to choose a track that corresponds to their area of excellence. Learn more about faculty tracks at the Offices for the Faculty Experience

Ranks of Instructor and Senior Instructor will be on the TTE track and given an opportunity to switch tracks, if needed, at a later time.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience practicing independently in a mental health setting.
• History of working with milieu staff is desired.
• 5 years of post-degree experience in outpatient and hospital settings.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Clinical skill is required for conducting brief and targeted assessments in integrated care settings to provide short-term psychotherapy interventions, health and behavior change and triage for appropriate level of care.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clinical faculty and staff in psychiatry.
• Strong commitment to inter-professional, team-based care in psychiatry
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
• Capacity for flexibility and adaptability in different work situations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentations to community audiences on women's health and behavioral health topics.
• Ability to work effectively on multiple tasks and maintain a well-organized work environment.
• Experience developing, training and supervising psychology trainees

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Instructor: $122,000 to $137,000

Senior Instructor: $122,000 to $137,000

This represents the 25-50 percentile of the salary range which is reflective of a candidate with 1-7 years of experience. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.The above salary range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
