Scheduled Hours 40 Position Summary The Department of Psychiatry is seeking a Behavioral Health Care Manager to serve as a core member of our pediatric collaborative care team, working together with one primary care pediatric practice and a psychiatric consultant to assess pediatric patients' mental health needs, provide brief therapeutic interventions, and coordinate the mental health care of patients on an assigned caseload. Additionally, this role will work with patients and providers in the Autism Clinical Center to provide interval follow up for patients who are newly diagnosed with autism. Will provide coordinated care with medical providers, psychoeducation, and supportive psychotherapy, and help families navigate barriers to their child's treatment plan. Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Supports the mental health care of patients on an assigned patient caseload. Closely coordinates care with the patient’s medical provider and consulting psychiatrist or other mental health providers. W orks together with one primary care pediatric practice and a psychiatric consultant to assess pediatric patients' mental health needs. Screens and assesses patients for common mental health disorders. Provides patient education about common mental health disorders and the available treatment options. Facilitates patient engagement and follow-up care. Systematically tracks treatment response via standardized measures in a registry and monitors patients (in person or via telephone/audio-visual encounter) for changes in clinical symptoms and treatment side effects or complications. Supports psychotropic medication management as prescribed by medical providers, focusing on treatment adherence monitoring, side effects, and effectiveness of treatment. W orks with patients and providers in the Autism Clinical Center to provide interval follow up for patients who are newly diagnosed with autism. Provides brief psychotherapeutic/behavioral interventions using evidence-based psychosocial treatments, as clinically indicated. Provides or facilitates in-clinic or outside referrals to evidence-based psychotherapy, as clinically indicated. Participates in regularly scheduled caseload consultation with the psychiatric consultant and follows up on resulting treatment recommendations with the patient’s medical provider. Documents patient progress and treatment recommendations so as to be shared with medical providers, psychiatric consultant, and other treating providers. Facilitates referrals for clinically indicated services in the community and liaison with patient’s other community supports. A final evaluation to be shared with fellows upon completion of the program, that verifies if the fellow has demonstrated the knowledge, skills and behaviors necessary to enter autonomous practice. Implement and oversee an effective and fair system to ensure effective faculty performance in teaching and supervision, which includes at a minimum: Effective feedback to faculty regarding aggregate fellow evaluations and teaching effectiveness, at least annually. Faculty development in education, assessment, wellness and Quality/Patient Safety skills that are pertinent to GME. Annual confidential evaluation of faculty members by fellows Annual evaluation of faculty performance, including clinical teaching abilities, engagement with the educational program, participation in faculty development, clinical performance, professionalism, and scholarly activities. Develop and oversee a process to evaluate candidates prior to approval as program faculty members for participation in the fellowship program education and at least annually thereafter. Exercise the authority to approve program faculty members for participation in the fellowship program education at all sites. Exercise the authority to remove program faculty members from participation in the fellowship program education at all sites if necessary. Collaborate with and oversee clinical supervision of other child and adolescent psychiatrists and affiliated APPs who provide medical psychiatric services to children. Lead Child Division meetings and serve as the leader in community engagement, advocacy and research oversight and clinical care of the service line. Oversee the recruitment, retention and professional development of faculty and staff that meets the needs of the department in pediatric mental health services. Qualifications: Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical licensure. Position Summary

The Department of Psychiatry is seeking a Behavioral Health Care Manager to serve as a core member of our pediatric collaborative care team, working together with one primary care pediatric practice and a psychiatric consultant to assess pediatric patients' mental health needs, provide brief therapeutic interventions, and coordinate the mental health care of patients on an assigned caseload. Additionally, this role will work with patients and providers in the Autism Clinical Center to provide interval follow up for patients who are newly diagnosed with autism. Will provide coordinated care with medical providers, psychoeducation, and supportive psychotherapy, and help families navigate barriers to their child's treatment plan.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supports the mental health care of patients on an assigned patient caseload. Closely coordinates care with the patient’s medical provider and consulting psychiatrist or other mental health providers.
  • Works together with one primary care pediatric practice and a psychiatric consultant to assess pediatric patients' mental health needs.
  • Screens and assesses patients for common mental health disorders.
  • Provides patient education about common mental health disorders and the available treatment options.
  • Facilitates patient engagement and follow-up care.   
  • Systematically tracks treatment response via standardized measures in a registry and monitors patients (in person or via telephone/audio-visual encounter) for changes in clinical symptoms and treatment side effects or complications.
  • Supports psychotropic medication management as prescribed by medical providers, focusing on treatment adherence monitoring, side effects, and effectiveness of treatment.
  • Works with patients and providers in the Autism Clinical Center to provide interval follow up for patients who are newly diagnosed with autism.
  • Provides brief psychotherapeutic/behavioral interventions using evidence-based psychosocial treatments, as clinically indicated.
  • Provides or facilitates in-clinic or outside referrals to evidence-based psychotherapy, as clinically indicated.
  • Participates in regularly scheduled caseload consultation with the psychiatric consultant and follows up on resulting treatment recommendations with the patient’s medical provider.
  • Documents patient progress and treatment recommendations so as to be shared with medical providers, psychiatric consultant, and other treating providers.
  • Facilitates referrals for clinically indicated services in the community and liaison with patient’s other community supports.
  • Attends required certification trainings as required by licensure and program needs.
