Job Description: Provide a safe, nurturing, teaching environment for children with special needs, so that they may grow spiritually at Grace Baptist Church during church related functions. Responsibilities: Perform duties associated with care for participants of Grace Special Friends ministry. Create a welcoming environment for individuals with special needs to learn about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Assist in classroom activities, including but not limited to bible/devotional, worship, & craft/table activities. Assist with organization of classroom activities. Adapt and modify activities using a multi-sensory approach. Encourage socially acceptable behavior, employing techniques such as behavior modification and positive reinforcement. Provide consistent reinforcement for learning and continuous feedback for all learning activities. Enforce simple classroom rules with clearly defined rewards and/or consequences. Provide prompt and professional care for participants’ physical, emotional, and social needs. Escort participants to designated activities, with special care to safety and security. Perform housekeeping duties in the classroom, such as cleaning and sanitizing toys, objects, and tables. Other duties as assigned. Requirements: Must have a clear testimony of personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and a lifestyle of biblical integrity. Completed and cleared background check. Agreement to implement our Child Protection Policies. Completion of training pertaining to working with individuals with special needs. Work a regular weekly schedule as needed. Ability to perform physical activities that require moving one's whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, running, where the activities often also require considerable use of the arms and legs, and able to lift up to 30 pounds without assistance. Expected Hours (one or both): Sundays 8:45 AM-12:00 PM - serving during one of our two services. Wednesdays 6:00 PM - 7:45 PM. Special events involving childcare as needed.

  • Assist in classroom activities, including but not limited to bible/devotional, worship, & craft/table activities.
  • Assist with organization of classroom activities.
  • Adapt and modify activities using a multi-sensory approach.
  • Encourage socially acceptable behavior, employing techniques such as behavior modification and positive reinforcement.
  • Provide consistent reinforcement for learning and continuous feedback for all learning activities.
  • Enforce simple classroom rules with clearly defined rewards and/or consequences.
  • Provide prompt and professional care for participants’ physical, emotional, and social needs.
  • Escort participants to designated activities, with special care to safety and security.
  • Perform housekeeping duties in the classroom, such as cleaning and sanitizing toys, objects, and tables.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Must have a clear testimony of personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and a lifestyle of biblical integrity. 
  • Completed and cleared background check.
  • Agreement to implement our Child Protection Policies.
  • Completion of training pertaining to working with individuals with special needs.
  • Work a regular weekly schedule as needed.
  • Ability to perform physical activities that require moving one's whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, running, where the activities often also require considerable use of the arms and legs, and able to lift up to 30 pounds without assistance.

Expected Hours (one or both):
  • Sundays 8:45 AM-12:00 PM - serving during one of our two services.
  • Wednesdays 6:00 PM - 7:45 PM.
  • Special events involving childcare as needed.
