Cashier Lead Job Description Pay: $18.00/hr Job Title: Cashier Lead Salary: G05 Employment Type: Full-time Is this a Civil Service Position? Yes Recruitment Type: Open to Departmental Applicants Department: Utility Billing Position Description: Under the direct supervision of the Utility Billing Cashier Supervisor and Assistant Supervisor, a Cashier Lead is responsible for guiding a group of cashier representatives to assist in daily operations and help with customer related services and issues. Cashier Leads manage mid-level customer complaints and provide immediate resolution to improve customer satisfaction. They are proficient in money management skills, and they work closely with the Cashier Supervisor to implement strategies to increase accuracy and achieve departmental goals. Cashier Leads assist the department Systems Specialist in testing system updates, researching trends, and reporting issues within daily processes. They train new cashier representatives to be accurate and efficient in the knowledge and performance of daily tasks, and they assist the Cashier Supervisor in evaluating performance of representatives. A Cashier Lead must have excellent communication and leadership skills to guide a team and support the departments vision. Cashier Leads possess the work ethic to go above and beyond and are self-motivated, innovative, and willing to take on a challenge. Below include, but are not limited to, the responsibilities and requirements for this position: Cashier Lead Responsibilities: Assisting in managing the day-to-day activities of the team. Motivating the team to achieve organizational goals. Working closely with Cashier Supervisor and Assistant Supervisor in developing and implementing a timeline to achieve targets. Delegating tasks to team members. Assisting in training of team members to maximize their potential and give them clear directions and guidelines on how to work effectively. Empowering team members with skills to improve their confidence, product knowledge, and communication skills. Working closely with the Cashier Supervisor in providing feedback to assist in performance reviews. Contributing to the growth of the company through a successful team. Creating a pleasant working environment that inspires the team. Ensure that security procedures are always observed to track theft, lifting, and robbery. Maintain cash registers and their contents, checking for accuracy in departments daily cash transactions. Cashier Lead Requirements: High School Diploma or similar. Minimum of 2 years' experience. On-the-job training. Excellent communication skills. Confidence and skillful negotiating skills. Computer literate. Strong organizational skills to give the team direction. Must have good math skills, such as addition, subtraction, and multiplication to be able to make simple calculations. Additional Requirements: Working knowledge of customer service techniques, database systems, web-based systems, billing systems and mobile dispatching systems Ability to deal effectively with others in a courteous manner. Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records. Ability to speak in a clear and concise manner. Ability to operate a variety of office equipment. Ability to ask appropriate questions to obtain necessary information. Ability to make sound judgments regarding customer issues. Ability to apply and calculate various rates associated with City services. Ability to operate a personal computer. Ability to understand and operate a variety of computer programs simultaneously. Ability to cope with heavy public traffic both in person and by phone with constant interruptions. Ability to multi-task.
