Role Summary

Strategic Legal Practices is seeking a full-time Law Clerk with 0-5 years of experience at a litigation law firm, with proficiency in litigation terminology and procedures including state and federal court filing and e-filing procedures. The Law Clerk will work directly with the attorneys to prepare documents, oversee fact-finding assignments and develop and maintain case files. The ideal candidate must be able to work independently, as well as in a team setting, and begin supporting clients and other attorneys immediately and effectively. Lemon Law experience is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

$38.00 - 39.00 per hour + benefits (healthcare, 401k, PTO, etc.)

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Drafting & Document Preparation

  • Draft and prepare legal documents including complaints, motions, declarations, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, and other pleadings
  • Assist with drafting trial briefs, legal memoranda, and other litigation-related documents
  • Proofread, format, and finalize legal documents to ensure compliance with court rules

Case Preparation & Litigation Support

  • Assist attorneys with deposition and trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, witness files, and evidence
  • Prepare trial materials such as exhibit binders, evidence lists, and motions in limine
  • Provide support before and during court proceedings by organizing and reviewing relevant legal documents

Court Filings & Calendaring

  • Prepare, file, serve, and e-file pleadings and other documents in state and federal courts
  • Calendar and track litigation deadlines, court appearances, and statutes of limitation

File & Case Management

  • Assemble, organize, and maintain client and case files, both electronic and physical
  • Collect, organize, and summarize case-related documents, reports, and evidence

Communication & Coordination

  • Communicate professionally with clients, court clerks, opposing counsel, and internal team members
  • Assist with scheduling hearings, depositions, and meetings

Additional Support

  • Perform legal, administrative, and special projects as assigned
  • Handle confidential information with discretion and maintain the highest standards of ethical conduct

Qualifications:

  • Must have already graduated from Law School
  • Excellent knowledge of rules for formatting, filing, and serving legal documents in state and federal courts
  • Excellent civil litigation court proceedings and deadlines for state and federal courts
  • Ability to multitask on numerous assignments and deadlines simultaneously
  • Ability to prioritize assignments and meet firm deadlines, pay close attention to detail, maintain accuracy. Have a high degree of self-accountability and ownership relating to assignments and initiatives.
  • Ability to use time efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to perform in a fast paced, demanding and ever-changing environment, while successfully adapting to changing priorities and work demands
  • Ability to interact and communicate with executives, attorneys, staff, and clients
  • Exceptional analytical, writing and research skills
  • Exceptional computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft, document management systems and time record keeping software
