We invite applications from candidates regardless of subject area expertise; our search is not restricted by topic or curricular fit. We view this search as an opportunity to build out the doctrinal expertise and scholarly methodological approaches on our faculty, as well as pursuing larger institutional goals. Among these goals is our hope to hire cohorts of scholars tackling hard problems. As an illustrative example of a "hard problem" that could serve as the basis for a scholarly cluster, the committee might recruit a cohort of scholars working on problems associated with socio-economic inequality, broadly construed, and considered from different substantive and/or disciplinary perspectives. Their teaching portfolios would vary, but classes might include any first-year and bar-tested classes, and upper-level electives such as family law, immigration, and law & economics. Due to the dynamic nature of our thematic problems-based search, we encourage any candidate interested in SCU to apply; the socio-economic inequality example is purely illustrative rather than limiting. SCU's faculty is small, vibrant and committed. SEIU NORM GLEICHMAN LAW FELLOWSHIP The Legal Department of the Service Employees International Union has two openings for law fellows, starting in September 2026. The SEIU Law Fellowship Program was established to introduce law graduates to a broad range of legal work within an international union, and offers an excellent opportunity for new lawyers to work with experienced union-side lawyers on a variety of cutting-edge issues related to the advancement of workers' interests. The program was renamed the Norm Gleichman Fellowship to honor the life of Deputy General Counsel Norm Gleichman, who was a dedicated mentor to SEIU law fellows. SEIU is a progressive, dynamic, and growing labor organization of over two million members in the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada, united by the belief in the dignity and worth of workers and the services they provide. We are dedicated to improving the lives of workers and their families and creating a more just and humane society. Attorneys in SEIU's Legal Department engage in innovative lawyering to further the organization's interests in organizing non-union workers, improving working conditions for all workers, engaging in political action, and achieving social justice. This includes legal work on a wide range of litigation, regulatory and legislative matters, and policy and advising on union governance issues, organizing campaigns, and other legal work in furtherance of working people, and their communities. The Gleichman Law Fellow will have the opportunity to be involved in most areas of the legal department's work. While each fellowship experience varies according to the work of the department, the Fellow can expect to be involved in at least some of the following types of work: litigation to enforce the labor and employment rights of union members; handling matters before the National Labor Relations Board; drafting amicus briefs in support of workers' rights issues before the NLRB and appellate courts; advice and assistance to staff organizers on organizing campaigns; involvement in policy and legislative initiatives; and participation in SEIU's political program. The Fellowship is based in Washington, DC, and is for a term of up to two years. SEIU staff enjoy benefits including comprehensive health benefits, major medical, dental and vision for employee and eligible dependents, domestic partner benefits, competitive salaries, holidays and vacation policies, and a 401(K) Plan. Law school graduates, judicial clerks, and third-year law students are welcome to apply. Applicants should have excellent research and writing skills, a demonstrated commitment to workers' rights, and a desire to practice union-side labor law. Applications should include a cover letter, resume, writing sample, law school transcript, and two letters of recommendation. The application process is on a rolling basis and will close on October 17, 2025. SEIU is an equal-opportunity employer.
