This is a 28 bed, CARF-accredited unit serving a diverse patient population who require intensive rehabilitation as they recover from acute or chronic illness or injury that has had a significant impact on their physical, cognitive, behavioral and emotional functioning. Populations served include those with brain injury (concussion, moderate-severe traumatic brain injury, anoxic brain injury, encephalitis, stroke, brain tumor), spinal cord injury/disease, cerebral palsy, orthopedic injuries, neuromuscular disorders, peripheral nerve disorders, and a variety of other acute and chronic medical conditions. Primary responsibilities include individual and family psychotherapy, psychoeducation, development of behavior management interventions, and coordination with neuropsychologists, teachers, child life specialists, social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists across the Children's system, as well as community providers. The psychologist will work as a member of a multidisciplinary team including physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and rehabilitation therapy teams (PT, OT, SLP) to support patient care. The psychologist in this position will work closely with our psychologist covering the outpatient Day Rehabilitation Program at Children's as approximately 75% of the patients receiving care on the CIRU transition to the Day Rehabilitation Program. Psychologists participate in the training of psychology doctoral externs, doctoral interns, and postdoctoral fellows, as well other behavioral mental health trainees. This position is eligible for a faculty appointment through the Emory University School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics, with rank commensurate with qualifications and experience. Identifies interpretive strengths and limitations, considering various test factors, test-taking abilities and characteristics of client such as situational, personal, linguistic, and cultural differences that could affect the assessment's accuracy. Prepares written assessment reports at the level of the report consumer, individualized to the unique attributes of the client including his/her strengths; makes concrete, pragmatic recommendations that address treatment planning and the referral question. Provides feedback on referral questions to the referring clinician and client and/or family, tailored to their level of understanding. Makes recommendations for the purchase of assessment instruments, keeping up to date on instrument revisions. Maintains the security of assessment manuals, instruments, protocols and test questions. Documents client services, ensuring compliance with Agency policies and procedures, Department of Mental Health contract and other related agencies' standards and guidelines. Participates in officer-of-the-day duty coverage and twenty-four hour on call coverage (if applicable). Develops and maintains professional assessment skills through seminars, workshops, or other forms of training/education related to working with adults with a history of mental illness. Attends and participates in program, Agency staff meetings; and related community agency meetings as required/requested. Position Requirements Must be a CA licensed psychologist; 2+ years post licensure preferred. Must have a strong working knowledge/experience in psychological assessment, including test selection, administration, interpretation and report-writing. A working knowledge of psychological assessment in mental health including understanding of diagnostic concepts and assessment correlates of particular psychopathologies including psychiatric syndromes, personality disorders, and cognitive dysfunctions as well as those of malingering. Minimum of 2+ years of experience working with adults with a history of mental illness in a social service/mental health environment. Willing to travel between agency sites to provide services, and work in a variety of settings, including outpatient, home-based and field-based. Experience as a clinical supervisor preferred. Must possess knowledge of research and statistics. Working knowledge of Agency policies and procedures, HIPAA, DMH, Department of Social Services, and other state/federal regulations relating to mental health services. Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Personal computer skills including word processing, electronic health record, spreadsheets, and other related software. Your new role
As a Clinical Psychologist with GuideStar Eldercare, you will join in our efforts to provide neuro-behavioral health services to residents in long term care facilities. Using a multi-disciplinary approach, you will partner with specialty clinicians to provide holistic, continuity of care for the elderly afflicted with neurocognitive disorders like dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, and other neurologic and/or psychiatric diagnoses.
 
What you'll do
- Provide evaluation
- Establish different diagnosis, i.e., Alzheimer's vs. Parkinson's vs. Vascular
- Provide cognitive assessments
- Provide condition-specific support therapy or when indicated, insight-based therapy
- Coordinate the patient's care plan with the facility, PCP and GuideStar colleagues, and engage with the family as indicated.

What you'll need to succeed
An active state Psychologist license, passion for the geriatric population, interest in neurobehavioral science, and a desire to make a difference in a population struggling with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and other neurodegenerative disorders. An HSPP is preferred in applicable states
