Overview
Job Description
- Conduct comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations to determine eligibility for special education and related services.
- Administer, score, and interpret cognitive, academic, behavioral, adaptive, and social-emotional assessments.
- Prepare comprehensive written evaluation reports and present findings to multidisciplinary teams and families.
- Participate in eligibility meetings, Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, MTSS, and problem-solving teams.
- Consult with teachers, administrators, parents, and related service providers regarding academic, behavioral, and social-emotional interventions.
- Assist in developing behavior intervention plans and evidence-based support strategies.
- Provide crisis intervention, consultation, and short-term counseling services as appropriate.
- Monitor student progress and recommend appropriate educational programming and interventions.
- Maintain accurate, confidential records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and district regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to promote positive student outcomes and inclusive learning environments.
- Participate in professional development and contribute to district-wide initiatives supporting student success.
- Population: Kindergarten 8th Grade
- School Sites: Two schools (one elementary and one middle school)
- Assignment: Northern Stafford County
- School Characteristics: Both campuses are Title I schools with high English Learner (EL) populations.
- Assessment Caseload: Typically ranges from approximately 30 70 evaluations per year, depending on grade level, redistricting, referral patterns, and triennial evaluation schedules.
- Support: Collaborative school psychology team with strong district support and shared resources to help balance workloads.
- Master's, Educational Specialist (Ed.S.), or Doctoral degree in School Psychology preferred.
- Active Virginia School Psychologist license/certification required (or eligibility to obtain).
- Previous school-based experience preferred.
- Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse student populations is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of psychoeducational assessment, special education eligibility, MTSS, behavioral interventions, and special education laws.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, organizational, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary educational team.
- School-based assignment serving Kindergarten through 8th-grade students.
- Split between one elementary school and one middle school.
- Collaborative environment with administrators, special education teams, teachers, counselors, and related service providers.
- Strong mentorship and support from an experienced school psychology team.
- Student-centered environment focused on academic achievement, behavioral success, and social-emotional well-being.
