Job Description
Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of the EVS Supervisor, enhances the aesthetic appeal of common, ancillary, and public areas within the facility. Utilizes chemicals and equipment in the maintenance of carpet, hard-surfaced floors, upholstery, and walls.
Essential Functions
- Performs routine cleaning of a maintenance and corrective nature in the assigned area, including:
- Removing trash to the designated area (compactor, dumpster).
- Removing recyclable materials to the appropriate site.
- Sanitizing environmental surfaces in assigned areas.
- Replenishing supplies.
- Dusting, vacuuming, and rearranging furniture in an orderly fashion.
- Dust mopping / wet mopping floors in the assigned area.
- Performs duties related to maintenance of hard floors, including stripping, waxing, top-scrubbing and recoating, burnishing, dust mopping, wet mopping, and moving furniture.
- Performs duties related to the maintenance of carpets, including shampooing, extraction, bonnet buffing, vacuuming, and moving furniture.
- Is knowledgeable in proper chemical mixing and usage as it relates to the care of hard-surfaced floors, carpets, upholstery, and walls.
- Have the necessary skills to perform preventative, corrective, and salvage care of these surfaces.
- Have the necessary skills to operate equipment in a manner so as not to pose a danger to residents, patients, staff, and visitors or cause damage to the building.
- Equipment knowledge must include the proper use of rotary equipment, extractors, wet/dry vacuums, high-speed burnishers, battery-operated carpet and/or floor machines.
- Utilizes and maintains equipment properly.
- Completes work assignments in a timely manner.
- Ability to do work on his/her own with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrates personal responsibility and respect for self and others.
- Adheres to all Department policies, procedures, and mandatory requirements.
- Communicates professionally and courteously with residents, staff, guests, and family members.
- Observes safety precautions at all times.
- Demonstrates excellence in customer service.
- Able to adjust to changing situations and needs.
- Participates in other duties, as assigned by the Supervisor from time to time, which you are qualified for and can reasonably be expected to complete with minimal orientation.
- Participates in product evaluation.
- Maintains age-specific safety precautions, including:
- Elderly - No small or sharp objects or tools that may injure residents or visitors will be left out. Carts and/or equipment and tools will not be left unattended. Keeps hallways and pathways clear of debris, cleaning equipment, and tools. Environmental Service closets will remain locked at all times.
