Summary This is custodial work involves the cleaning of buildings and surrounding grounds. Performs other duties as required. Skills Ability to learn the materials, methods and practices used in cleaning operations. Ability to learn the operation and care of vacuum cleaners, scrubbings, waxing and polishing machines and other janitorial equipment. Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions. Ability to exercise care in the use of cleaning materials for different types of building surfaces. Ability to work harmoniously with associates and others Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent preferred. One- three years' experience in cleaning public buildings and /or facilities. Working Conditions Standing/Walking 90% Lifting 10% (overhead, arm's length up to 20 lbs., up to 100 lbs with assistance) Bending 35% Pushing/Pulling 50% Climbing 5% Environment may be outdoors, wet areas and temperatures that may vary. Working in stairwells, elevators and on escalators. Ability to perform assigned duties under frequent time pressure in an interruptive or confined environment.
