This contract includes the Operations, Sustainment, Maintenance, Repair, and Defense of the Defense Information System Network (DISN) within the DOD Information Network (DODIN) in support of the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). It also includes support to other key tasks for DISA, including the transformation of DISA’s operational mission through innovation, and support to DISA’s mission partners. While this role is primarily remote one must live within commuting distance to Scott AFB, IL or Ft. Meade, MD for on-site support. The selected candidate will be a key member of the Special Projects Innovations team, working hands-on with a team of software engineers, and will provide technical expertise in Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), DevOps and Software Configuration Management in support of the automated and rapid delivery of innovative solutions to a cloud-based environment. Summary


We are looking for a DevOps Engineer with experience in optical embedded systems to optimize software delivery, automate infrastructure, and enhance system reliability. The ideal candidate will work closely with embedded software teams to develop robust CI/CD pipelines, improve build automation, and manage cloud and on-premises infrastructure.

Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Bitbucket Pipelines or Bamboo for embedded software development.
Automate build, test, and deployment processes for optical embedded systems.
Develop and manage firmware and software delivery pipelines, ensuring efficient releases.
Optimize containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes) for embedded applications.
Automate infrastructure provisioning using Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent tools.
Monitor system performance and reliability using Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK.
Work with developers and hardware teams to integrate software updates seamlessly.
Enhance security and compliance in the DevOps lifecycle.

Requirements:

Bachelors degree in Software Engineering or Software Development
7+ years of experience in DevOps, Embedded Software Development, or Systems Engineering.
Strong understanding of optical embedded systems and real-time software development.
Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools, preferably Bitbucket Pipelines or Bamboo.
Familiarity with version control systems (Git, Bitbucket, or GitLab).
Proficiency in automation and scripting (Python, Bash, or Go).
Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and Linux-based environments.
Experience with monitoring, logging, and performance tuning for embedded systems.
