VALORANT is Riot's take on a character-based tactical shooter (for more info on VALORANT click here!). As a Staff Software Engineer on the VALORANT team you are responsible for helping Riot build and continue to deliver great player experiences. You will work to help optimize the experience of VALORANT to ensure smooth server performance and to push the limits of new and future hardware. You will report to the Engineering Manager of the Performance and Compatibility Team.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with discipline leads to develop long-term vision and strategies that push towards VALORANT's performance goals
  • Lead architecture design, review, and implementation of performance critical systems
  • Identify, prioritize, design, and implement performance tools and optimizations
  • Implement sustainable processes and best practices for performance testing and data gathering
  • Mentor and coach junior members to build talent over the long term

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of professional experience as a Software Engineer
  • Bachelor's, Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or relevant professional experience
  • Expertise with C++ or similar programming languages
  • Experience working on performance for large-scale applications or games
  • Have been responsible for driving the design and leading of development of large-sized efforts (6-month scope), including requirements gathering, planning, testing, and release or deployment
