Director of Housekeeping
Salary: $90,000 - $100,000 annually (Exempt) + bonus eligibleProperty: Embassy Suites La Jolla
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced, service-driven Director of Housekeeping to lead all housekeeping operations at our 340-room full-service hotel. This leader will be responsible for maintaining exceptional cleanliness standards, ensuring guest satisfaction, managing departmental budgets, and developing a high-performing housekeeping team. The ideal candidate is a hands-on hospitality professional with strong operational expertise, leadership skills, and a passion for providing an outstanding guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
Direct and oversee all housekeeping operations, including guest rooms, public areas, laundry, and back-of-house spaces.
Lead, coach, and develop housekeeping managers, supervisors, and team members to achieve departmental goals.
Ensure compliance with brand standards, safety regulations, sanitation requirements, and company policies.
Monitor room cleanliness and presentation through inspections and quality assurance programs.
Collaborate closely with Front Office, Engineering, Food & Beverage, and other departments to optimize hotel operations and guest satisfaction.
Develop staffing plans and labor schedules to meet business demands while maintaining productivity goals.
Manage departmental budgets, payroll, inventory, purchasing, and expense controls.
Oversee linen, laundry, and cleaning supply programs to ensure cost-effective operations.
Analyze performance metrics, guest feedback, inspection results, and service scores to identify improvement opportunities.
Maintain effective training programs and succession planning initiatives.
Lead recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and employee engagement efforts within the department.
Respond to guest concerns promptly and professionally to ensure timely resolution.
Qualifications
Required
Minimum of 5 years of progressive housekeeping leadership experience in a full-service hotel environment.
Previous experience as an Executive Housekeeper or Director of Housekeeping in a hotel with 250+ rooms preferred.
Strong knowledge of housekeeping operations, labor management, budgeting, and inventory control.
Proven ability to lead and motivate large teams in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with hotel property management systems and housekeeping technologies.
Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays as business requires.
Preferred
Previous Hilton brand experience strongly preferred.
Bilingual skills are a plus.
Degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
