The Litigation Paralegal Specialist provides professional, accurate, timely and reliable paralegal support reporting to and detailed to assist the litigating teams, assisting the attorneys with all phases of litigation. In particular, the Litigation Paralegal will support the missions of Employment and Civil Litigation teams and perform research, locate responsive information, identify relevant laws, judicial decisions, and legal articles; synopsizing transcripts of hearings and oral arguments for attorney use; review case material and identify potentially conflicting statement or areas requiring further investigation. The work products of the Litigation Paralegals are reviewed prior to submission; however, the Litigation Paralegal will develop these products with minimal direct supervision other than written guidelines. What You Will Need: Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DoD "TOP SECRET" security clearance; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of clearance prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an ACTIVE "TOP SECRET" or higher-level clearance are preferred. FIVE (5) or more years of litigation paralegal experience. Successful completion of Law Degree or Paralegal Studies / Certificate What Would Be Nice To Have: An ACTIVE and MAINTAINED TOP SECRET federal security clearance and ability to obtain SCI clearance. Experience with all phases of litigation, including assisting with discovery requests and responses; drafting motions and briefs; organizing exhibits, and assisting with trial. Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources. Demonstrated working knowledge of legal research tools, such as LEXIS NEXIS, Westlaw, and Pacer. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent Documentation Skills. A general knowledge of ESI tools and e-discovery procedures and resources is desired. Experience performing Paralegal functions including moderately complex legal research; synopsizing transcripts of hearings and oral arguments for attorneys. Experience assisting in preparing draft legal documents, such as motions, briefs, memoranda of law, exhibits, etc.; conducting legal analysis, reviewing documents for relevance and privilege; and assisting attorneys with all phases of litigation. Experience reviewing materials in discovery for relevancy and privilege and preparing privilege logs. Experience assisting the drafting and issuing of preservation notices and litigation holds. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and hands-on familiarity with computer platforms that assist with document review and case management. The annual salary range for this position is $98,000.00-$163,000.00. Process payments from owners and prepare balance due letters, payoff letters, and estoppels. Prepare initial Demand Letters, Notice of Intent to Foreclose letters, and Liens. Prepare and generate the Motion for Summary Judgment, including the affidavit of indebtedness and the affidavit of costs. The affidavit of attorney's fees will be initially prepared and generated by the Team Assistant but will be completed by the Paralegal by confirming that the information is correct and by adding the estimated attorney's fees incurred to finish out the action. Prepare and generate all Notices of Hearing. Instruct Team Assistant with various tasks. Prepare and generate the Final Judgment, including the Notice of Sale. Prepare cover letters to the judge. Prepare the hearing folder for the attorney to take to the hearing. Bank Actions Pull Mortgage/Satisfaction Search. Prepare Answer/Affirmative Defenses. Closing Files The Paralegal must ensure all legal work is complete for the file to be closed and that there are no outstanding invoices to be paid. Give the file to the Team assistant to prepare the check request, or if no money is in trust, prepare the additional funds request. If there is money in trust for another matter, contact the Association to obtain consent to use the funds for payment of the invoice. Matter Centricity: Receive Court Pleadings filed. Save the document in the file through Filesite for further profiling by the file clerk.   • Experience assisting the drafting and issuing of preservation notices and litigation holds.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and hands-on familiarity with computer platforms that assist with document review and case management.

The annual salary range for this position is $98,000.00-$163,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
