Monitors equipment and properly notifies service personnel of malfunctioning equipment (i.e. IT, nursing leadership). Maintains clean work areas and unit equipment according to departmental procedure. Assists in routine unit operations to ensure smooth communication and functioning of the unit. Ensures positive communication with other units/staff and follow-up documentation. Courteously answers telephone; identifying self and unit at all times. Department of Army Criminal Investigative Division (DACID) Biometric Operations Department (BOD) Examination Services Support (ESS) contract is the perfect position for you. Working within a unique 100% digital environment, the Biometric Examiners on the ESS contract work both independently and often as a team to work through individual biometric examination requests and/or routine casework. The ESS Biometric Examiner position is unique because of the unique mission that it serves. Given that the operation is a 100% digital operation, the ESS Biometric Examiners play an important role in supporting DoD customers to build and search biometric files through DoD ABIS and often perform complex examinations on extremely fragmented friction ridge detail impressions and differing quality of facial and iris images. This requires experienced fingerprint examiners to transform and utilize previously learned non-digital comparison skills into a digital environment, while also being trained on facial and iris identifications. The ESS Biometric Examiners are also trained to perform case reception/administrative tasks to help serve on the ESS Biometric Technician operations as necessary. The ESS Biometric Examiner will be working on the front lines, performing biometric examinations, comparisons and effecting identifications to help serve the DoD Warfighter and protect the United States of America. The ESS Biometric Examiner candidate will have the opportunity to hone their skills in using the Microsoft Office Suite and Windows through day-to-day operational work. The ESS Biometric Examiner will have the opportunity to become proficient in using Adobe Photoshop to format fingerprint, palm print, facial and iris images for searching purposes, as well as utilizing Lakota Whorl to help complete necessary tasks to support the Warfighter. The ESS Biometric Examiner will receive unique training in performing facial and iris examinations. Typical Day: The DACID BOD Examination Services section is a 100% digital operation. Therefore, the typical day for a Biometric Examiner consists of working on a Windows 10 computer performing biometric examinations and comparisons as part of completing internal BOD and/or external customer request and casework Tasks: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Preparation of biometric files (fingerprints, palm prints, facial images and/or iris images) for entry into DoD ABIS through digital imaging techniques to enhance and maintain integrity of the images. Monitor queue applications to resolve DoD ABIS yellow resolve transactions. Manual comparison (on screen) of available biometrics with candidate biometrics retrieved from the DoD ABIS to eliminate individuals or effect positive identifications. Follows up on accounts as indicated by system flags (courtesy dismissal/comments/red stickers). May initiate auto accident liability coverage. Identifies all patients involved in an auto accident and obtains all pertinent information regarding medical or non-fault liability and documents in registration/billing systems. May initiate ERSD (end stage renal disease) screening. Identifies ESRD patients and obtains all pertinent information regarding coverage by SSI and documents in the registration/billing systems. May initiate Veterans Administration eligibility screening. Identifies all VA eligible patients and coordinated admission/treatment with VA and documents in the registration/billing systems. May initiate Black Lung SSI screening. Identifies all patients covered under Black Lung and documents in the registration/billing systems. May initiate Workers Compensation screening. Accurately identifies all patients seeking treatment for work related injuries. Assists in completion of appropriate paperwork and documents in the registration/billing systems. Initiates MSPQ (Medicare secondary payer questionnaire). Obtains all information regarding MSPQ. Documents in registration/billing system all information required on the MSPQ. Maintains confidentiality according to policy and HIPAA when interacting with patients, physicians, families, co-workers and the public regarding demographic/clinical/financial information Provides to the patient, information concerning insurance, payment of bills and hospital procedures. Consistently maintains current knowledge of major payer payment provisions. Performs medical necessity checks and completes Advanced Beneficiary Notice as needed. Answers phone calls in a professional and courteous manner. Uses phone system in correct manner. Schedules, reschedules, or cancels patients in accordance with hospital workflows. Checks for order completeness and validate order against scheduled service. Communicates with and supports hospital departments using the scheduling system. Follows hospital, state, and federal guidelines for ensuring safe environment for workers, patients, and the public. Ensures compliance by staff to hospital, governmental, and insurance regulations.   1. Monitors equipment and properly notifies service personnel of malfunctioning equipment (i.e. IT, nursing leadership).

  2. Maintains clean work areas and unit equipment according to departmental procedure.

  3. Assists in routine unit operations to ensure smooth communication and functioning of the unit.

  4. Ensures positive communication with other units/staff and follow-up documentation.

  5. Courteously answers telephone; identifying self and unit at all times.

  6. Relays accurate message to appropriate receiver with follow-up documentation in a timely manner.

  7. Maintains HIPAA and JCAHO Standards.
