Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Provide support for team members in the assessment review process, including representing clients during appeals and hearings with state and local taxing authorities • Prepares reports and analyses supporting DMA’s position for state and local taxing authorities; reviews and submits periodic status reports to clients; prepares Reports of Findings and other general correspondence for clients • Uses DMA templates or valuation models for property valuation, fixed asset reconciliation or classification, determine client’s prior methodologies, identify exemptions and abatements, identifying and reporting potential tax savings opportunities • Attend on-site inspection of client property (plants and operations) • Assists business development professionals in identifying, scoping, and developing customized solutions for new and prospective clients • Research, collect and populate DMA’s review management system with new cases, client assessment details, property or fixed asset data and jurisdictional tax information • Assist in production and invoicing process • Track and monitor all relevant jurisdictional deadlines associated with return filings, audits, informal and formal appeals & protests, mailing & payment dates for tax bills • Research and follow industry or market activity/trends in assigned geographic area • Research and follow state and local tax issues, legislation, court cases, etc. • Perform much of the above in collaboration with or supervised by Consultants, Tax Managers and Directors; while also handling less material matters independently Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Perform other duties as assigned Education and Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Real Estate, Finance, Economics, or related field • 3-5 years professional experience; property tax, valuation, or accounting preferred • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated problem-solving • Organizational, research and interpersonal skills required • Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects and deadlines • Valid driver’s license The Company is an equal employment opportunity employer and is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to its applicants and employees. About the job

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Tax Preparer with a minimum of 3 years of public accounting experience to join the firm at our Kennesaw office. The ideal candidate will have comprehensive tax compliance and strategy experience. This individual will be at a senior level and will be working with other members of our tax practice to develop and strengthen client relationships. They will advise clients on a full spectrum of individual, partnership, corporate, trust and estate tax services. Must be professional with excellent communication skills to provide clients with in-depth industry knowledge.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares and reviews federal and state return filings for Individuals, Partnerships, LLCs, C-Corps, and S-Corps
  • Reviews work on client engagements to ensure firm’s quality control procedures are followed
  • Coordinates with partners on progress of engagements; brings recommended solutions and takes timely action to facilitate work flow processes
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with clients through ongoing communication and exceptional service
  • Assists clients with the implementation of tax & wealth-building strategies
  • Designs, implements, and executes appropriate tax research processes, and analyzes the sustainability of the tax return filing position(s)
  • Stays current on technical and regulatory issues, especially new Tax Reform laws
  • Understands the economics of the firm’s practice, and has direct client billing responsibility
  • Supports tax staff with additional tax administrative duties as assigned
  • Networks and maintains contact with business peers

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • MUST have 3+ years of experience with corporate/personal tax preparation within the scope of a public accounting firm
  • Experience in tax planning strategies for businesses and high net worth individuals
  • Experience with multi-state and consolidated tax returns
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives with little supervision
  • Strong commitment to professional and client service excellence
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective multitasker, able to organize multiple engagements while remaining detail-oriented
  • CPA preferred but not required (we can sponsor you for this license)
  • Previous experience supervising and training staff preferred
  • Willing to work in an office environment (we have robust cleaning and distancing procedures)
