Based in the Manhattan borough of New York City, this role will be part of the real estate tax team. This role will be responsible for tax compliance, information reporting and basic tax research for the firm’s real estate strategy. As our tax team is used as a resource by our business, asset management, operations and accounting teams, you will get real estate experience outside of normal tax compliance. In addition, this role will be involved in all aspects of real estate tax advisory, including fund, investor and investment structuring. This position requires a minimum of three days per week in the office. As a Tax Senior, you will be responsible for the following: Heavily involved in all aspects of the tax compliance process, including the review of partnership and corporate tax returns, Schedule K-1s and K-3s, foreign filings and tax workpapers prepared by our external tax preparers. Involved in preparing the Real Estate quarterly tax estimates and projections to incorporate updated financial information, sales, acquisitions, etc. for our funds. Assist in the quarterly preparation of tax provisions for corporate entities in our structures and the quarterly review of estimated payments for these entities prepared by our outside tax preparers. Assist in managing the real estate entity maintenance process surrounding acquisitions, dispositions, and restructurings of all real estate entities (foreign & domestic). This includes constant communication with legal, property financial reporting, and foreign teams. Prepare quarterly and annual REIT income and asset tests for all REITs in our structures. Assist in managing the annual FATCA and CRS compliance for our entities, including coordinating with our external global information reporting team to identify reportable accounts and preparing and reviewing the filing templates. Assist with fund formation and investor tax structuring, including basic tax research and review of legal documents. Involvement in tax structuring for the formation of new joint ventures and the acquisition of real estate properties. The US Tax Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of US tax compliance and reporting for the organization. Based in the Manhattan borough of New York City, this role will be part of the real estate tax team. This role will be responsible for tax compliance, information reporting and basic tax research for the firm’s real estate strategy. As our tax team is used as a resource by our business, asset management, operations and accounting teams, you will get real estate experience outside of normal tax compliance. In addition, this role will be involved in all aspects of real estate tax advisory, including fund, investor and investment structuring.
This position requires a minimum of three days per week in the office.
As a Tax Senior, you will be responsible for the following:
- Heavily involved in all aspects of the tax compliance process, including the review of partnership and corporate tax returns, Schedule K-1s and K-3s, foreign filings and tax workpapers prepared by our external tax preparers.
- Involved in preparing the Real Estate quarterly tax estimates and projections to incorporate updated financial information, sales, acquisitions, etc. for our funds.
- Assist in the quarterly preparation of tax provisions for corporate entities in our structures and the quarterly review of estimated payments for these entities prepared by our outside tax preparers.
- Assist in managing the real estate entity maintenance process surrounding acquisitions, dispositions, and restructurings of all real estate entities (foreign & domestic). This includes constant communication with legal, property financial reporting, and foreign teams.
- Prepare quarterly and annual REIT income and asset tests for all REITs in our structures.
- Assist in managing the annual FATCA and CRS compliance for our entities, including coordinating with our external global information reporting team to identify reportable accounts and preparing and reviewing the filing templates.
- Assist with fund formation and investor tax structuring, including basic tax research and review of legal documents.
- Involvement in tax structuring for the formation of new joint ventures and the acquisition of real estate properties.
To be successful, these are the skills and experience you will need:
- 2+ years of prior real estate tax experience at a public accounting firm or a combination of public and private
- CPA licensed or CPA exam passed and actively pursuing licensure
- Experience reviewing federal, state and local tax returns
- Experience with partnership and corporate taxation
- Comfortable working in a fast paced, high-volume environment
- Exceptional analytical/problem-solving and communication skills
