These are temporary part-time positions that will work at our Kahalu'u Manowai outdoor cultural learning site (next to Kahalu'u beach park). Primary shift available is Saturdays 10:00 pm- 6:00 am. Additional shifts available based on operational need. Job Summary Provides security services for students, faculty, staff, visitors and facilities for Kamehameha Schools. These services include but are not limited to: monitoring CCTV cameras, vehicle and foot patrols of all campus property; enforcing traffic and parking regulations; providing safety and security inspection services; investigating and recording traffic, criminal and non-criminal incidents; parking and crowd supervision; monitoring and restricting access to sacred sites, monitoring vendors and general public access and restricting entry of unauthorized persons or vehicles, directing visitors and delivery vehicles and keeping records on specified vehicles entering or leaving campus. Essential Responsibilities Maintains physical security of facilities, property and safety of staff and students by performing vehicle and foot patrols of all KS property. Monitoring CCTV cameras and remains alert to unusual conditions or unauthorized personnel. When called upon, pursues, apprehends, defuses situations and within jurisdictional limits, detains and questions individuals to obtain facts pertaining to potentially criminal acts. Provides first response to natural disasters and/or man-made emergencies such as fires, assault or workplace violence. Provides security services on KS properties by restricting entry of unauthorized persons or vehicles; directs visitors and delivery vehicles, and keeps records on specified vehicles entering or leaving campus. Enforces traffic and parking regulations. Provides parking and crowd supervision for regular school events and special functions both on and off campus. Investigates and records traffic, criminal and non-criminal incidents occurring on campus or which affect the security of facilities, property, staff or students and provides written reports of these incidents. Position Requirements Minimum Qualifications- An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed. High School Diploma/Equivalent Minimum of 1 year of related work experience. Valid Hawaii Driver's license and current driving abstract. Current DCCA Guard Employee License or ability to obtain certification within 60 days from date of hire. Current standard First Aid, CPR and AED certification or ability to obtain certification within 6 months from date of hire. Able to work independently and available to work flexible work schedule, i.e. rotational scheduling, 24 hours, 7 days a week. Good written and oral communication skills. Good interpersonal skills required to relate effectively with KS staff, students, parents and the general public. Good working knowledge of computer business applications typically used for word processing, spreadsheets and email. Able to learn, operate, and monitor CCTV camera to record and find persons, vehicles, or unusual incidents for further review. Verbiage on computer/typing skills Preferred Qualifications Minimum of 1 year work experience in security, police or emergency related work environment Security experience in a K-12 school environment Working knowledge of computer software applications customarily used in Security work. Job Description Summary They provide deep and general cleaning services to all campus facilities as assigned. Primary Responsibilities General Preventative Maintenance and Deep Cleaning (75%) Follows a detailed scope of work to deep clean campus facilities which may include but is not limited to shampooing carpets, stripping and waxing floors; transporting and replacing furniture sofas, tables and chairs; picking up trash, clearing cleaning building surroundings, parking lots and dumpster areas; pressure wash walkways, stairwells, courtyards, high outside windows and screens; scrub clean bathrooms, kitchens, appliances; laundering curtains, and cleaning towels, etc. Follows a preventative maintenance cleaning schedule. Responsible to report pest control issues such as bugs, cockroaches, flying termites, wood ants, etc. Conduct daily walkthroughs of the facilities ensuring the premises are safe, clean and presentable. Report and follow up on all customer concerns. Keeps record of service calls and work orders. Performs and documents routine inspection and maintenance activities. Kamehameha Schools is searching for Security Officers to join our team at Kahalu'u Manowai on the Island of Hawai'i. These are temporary part-time positions that will work at our Kahalu'u Manowai outdoor cultural learning site (next to Kahalu'u beach park). Primary shift available is Saturdays 10:00 pm- 6:00 am. Additional shifts available based on operational need.

Job Summary

Provides security services for students, faculty, staff, visitors and facilities for Kamehameha Schools. These services include but are not limited to: monitoring CCTV cameras, vehicle and foot patrols of all campus property; enforcing traffic and parking regulations; providing safety and security inspection services; investigating and recording traffic, criminal and non-criminal incidents; parking and crowd supervision; monitoring and restricting access to sacred sites, monitoring vendors and general public access and restricting entry of unauthorized persons or vehicles, directing visitors and delivery vehicles and keeping records on specified vehicles entering or leaving campus.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Maintains physical security of facilities, property and safety of staff and students by performing vehicle and foot patrols of all KS property. Monitoring CCTV cameras and remains alert to unusual conditions or unauthorized personnel.
  • When called upon, pursues, apprehends, defuses situations and within jurisdictional limits, detains and questions individuals to obtain facts pertaining to potentially criminal acts.
  • Provides first response to natural disasters and/or man-made emergencies such as fires, assault or workplace violence.
  • Provides security services on KS properties by restricting entry of unauthorized persons or vehicles; directs visitors and delivery vehicles, and keeps records on specified vehicles entering or leaving campus.
  • Enforces traffic and parking regulations. Provides parking and crowd supervision for regular school events and special functions both on and off campus.
  • Investigates and records traffic, criminal and non-criminal incidents occurring on campus or which affect the security of facilities, property, staff or students and provides written reports of these incidents.

Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications- An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed.

  • High School Diploma/Equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year of related work experience.
  • Valid Hawaii Driver's license and current driving abstract.
  • Current DCCA Guard Employee License or ability to obtain certification within 60 days from date of hire.
  • Current standard First Aid, CPR and AED certification or ability to obtain certification within 6 months from date of hire.
  • Able to work independently and available to work flexible work schedule, i.e. rotational scheduling, 24 hours, 7 days a week.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills required to relate effectively with KS staff, students, parents and the general public.
  • Good working knowledge of computer business applications typically used for word processing, spreadsheets and email.
  • Able to learn, operate, and monitor CCTV camera to record and find persons, vehicles, or unusual incidents for further review.
  • Verbiage on computer/typing skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year work experience in security, police or emergency related work environment

Security experience in a K-12 school environment

  • Working knowledge of computer software applications customarily used in Security work.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Frequently writes by hand, stands, walks and lift/and/carry, push and/or pull objects that weigh up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally sits, performs desk-based computer tasks and requires ability to grasp using light or fine manipulation
  • Frequently twists, bends, stoops, squat, kneel, crawl, climb, reach or work above shoulder, or grasp firmly.

Working Conditions (including environmental conditions)

  • This position may involve traveling to various locations, including neighbor islands to conduct business.
  • Work is conducted in a school environment and regularly requires work to be conducted in non-standard, outdoor environment.
  • Work assignments may be conducted 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.
