Responsible for grading and sorting fruit, meeting packing specifications, fruit treatment, packing, stacking, shipping, and may be requested to do other work as directed. Maintain a safe work environment, adhere to established policies and procedures, and work all available hours offered while fulfilling any assigned responsibilities. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Routinely responsible for a variety of routine plant worker duties described below. The employee performs the assigned duties and responsibilities while maintaining a safe work environment and following the assigned policies and procedures. Must work all available hours that are offered and wherever assigned. Grading Determine grade and ripeness of fruit by observing external appearance. Use the sizer and demonstrates a good knowledge of fruit quality Remove fruit of predetermined grade and/or ripeness from the packing line and place them in another location as directed. Enters related data Treatment Performs water quality testing, Help load and prepare chambers for treatment. Unload chambers after treatment. Packing & Stacking Determine by external appearance, size, grade, and ripeness of fruit on packing table. Remove fruit of predetermined size, grade, and ripeness from the table and place them in a container for culling or regrading. Pack fruit based on orders. Assemble container as required. Place packed container on case conveyor. Examine packed containers for proper packing method, material, and carton size. Check weight of packed container as required. Record information from the container as required. Verify packing specifications and apply labels. Close carton boxes with tape machine. Verify proper sealing of carton boxes. And, verify the size and color on the container. Segregate containers and stack them for shipping or holding. Deliver packing material to packing station as directed. Operates the sizer to ensure that the correct fruit is dropped on the proper pack table. Ensure that the pack table does not become overfilled to prevent fruit from dropping onto the floor. Identifies packing or conveyer issues that need to be reported to maintenance. Keeps track of weekly orders. What has been packed and what needs to be packed. Packs special orders. Consolidates pack data. Inputs data into Produce Pro and logs data on to the pallet log sheets. Keep track of packing supply inventory usage. May assist with cleaning and machine shut off machines at the end of production run Ensures work area is clean and ready for the day's tasks. Follow all safety and food safety procedures. Perform other duties assigned by Management Shipping Receive supplies, prepare pallets for shipment and load containers.
