Job Description: IT Cybersecurity Analyst
The IT Cybersecurity Analyst is an intermediate-level position responsible for executing technical cybersecurity functions using a solid working knowledge of cybersecurity practices. This role works on systems, deliverables, and issues that are complex in nature, applying industry best practices along with established organizational policies and procedures to develop effective solutions. The analyst supports the ongoing assessment of the threat environment and performs routine work with general guidance, while receiving more detailed direction for new or unfamiliar tasks.
Job Responsibilities
- Stay current with emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation techniques to continuously improve the organization’s security posture
- Collaborate with internal teams including infrastructure, application teams, security operations center, cyber threat intelligence, and offensive security to validate vulnerabilities, assess risk, and prioritize mitigation strategies
- Identify, review, and analyze vulnerability data to detect trends and patterns
- Install, integrate, configure, and deploy vulnerability scanning solutions
- Confirm and refine asset scope for vulnerability scanning activities
- Analyze scan results and coordinate with system owners to ensure timely remediation
- Maintain vulnerability dashboards and provide executive-level reporting
- Influence the development of vulnerability management standards and security policies
- Execute vulnerability management processes, recommend appropriate change controls, and document security exceptions
- Maintain and update process documentation and assist with reporting to leadership and service stakeholders
- Assist with and support incident handling and response investigations
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, information technology, computer information systems, MIS, or engineering preferred
- A combination of an associate degree, military experience, professional cybersecurity experience, and relevant certifications (CISSP, GIAC, MCSE, CEH, GICSP, CSSA, CISM) will be considered
- Minimum of 2 years of cybersecurity experience required, with strong proficiency in Vulnerability Management preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong knowledge of SIEM platforms and threat intelligence tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in Vulnerability Management, including knowledge of CVSS scoring, patch management, and secure configuration practices
- 5+ years of overall cybersecurity experience with strong proficiency in Vulnerability Management
- One or more cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, CISM, OSCP, CCSP, CCNA, GIAC, MCSE, GICSP, or CSSA
Desirable Skills
- In-depth knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Unix/Linux, macOS)
- Programming and scripting experience (Python, PowerShell, Perl, Java, .NET such as VB/C#)
- Network, identity, and authentication technologies (TCP/IP, switching/routing, DNS, DHCP, Kerberos, PKI, RADIUS)
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP
