Job Description

Position Summary:

The Intern Minister at Abyssinian Baptist Church will serve as a dynamic and spiritually grounded support to the pastoral team, focusing primarily on children and youth ministries. The intern will also participate in a variety of ministry assignments including community outreach, social media engagement, evangelism, and other church initiatives. This role is designed to provide hands-on ministerial training and practical experience in a vibrant, historic, and socially active congregation.

Key Responsibilities:

Children & Youth Ministry:

Assist in planning, coordinating, and leading weekly programs for children and youth.
Help prepare lesson plans, worship experiences, and special events (e.g., youth Sundays, retreats, and service projects).
Build relationships with young people and their families to encourage spiritual growth and church involvement.

Outreach & Evangelism:

Participate in community engagement efforts including neighborhood outreach, service projects, and evangelistic events.
Represent the church at local events and collaborate with community partners to extend the church's mission.

Social Media & Communications:

Support the development of digital content for social media platforms to enhance the church's online presence.
Assist in managing communications for ministry events and initiatives via email, newsletters, and other tools.

General Ministry Support:

Attend weekly staff meetings, worship services, and church events.
Assist with preaching, teaching, and leading in worship services as assigned.
Provide administrative support for ministry programs as needed.

Qualifications:

Actively pursuing or recently completed theological education (seminary or Bible college preferred).
Demonstrated passion for ministry, particularly with children and youth.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Familiarity with or willingness to learn about the traditions and mission of the Abyssinian Baptist Church.
Competence in social media and basic digital tools (e.g., Canva, Facebook, Instagram).
