Organization's Summary Statement:
The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) invites applicants to apply for a full-time, twelve-month tenured faculty position. Librarian Rank will be assigned at the initial appointment to the position. The role of the Cataloging/Metadata Librarian is to provide support and direction in all areas and guidelines of the integrated library system that is used within the USMAI library consortium. This position is a key factor in all libraries due to the acquisition and maintenance of the library collection.

Responsibilities:
- Performs original & copy cataloging records for print, non-print & digital
items.
- Assists in the maintenance & operation of the library's automation system
for bibliographic control.
- Supervision of Library Services Tech and student assistants.
- Information literacy instruction.
- Reference desk assistance & other related duties assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Graduate degree in library science or related degree from an ALA
accredited institution
- Must be able to work rotating Saturdays
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Familiar with all aspects & guidelines of cataloging tools & principles
(Integrated Library Systems, LC Subject Headings & Classification, OCLC
bibliographic formats & authority files
- MARC, AACR2, OCLC experience
- Integrated library system & OCLC system experience
- Collection development experience
- Ability to work as a team member and/or work independently
- Ability to problem solve
- Ability to communicate effectively
Physical Demands:
- May require extended periods of standing, bending, sitting at desk.
- May require lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Requires communication with a variety of constituents externally and
internally.
- Requires operation of a variety of office equipment.
Preferences:
- One to two years of recent cataloging experience.
