Job Description
Job Title: Rubber Taper and CoilerShift:1st
Pay: $17/hour
Location: Elkhart, IN
Job Summary:
The Rubber Taper and Coiler is responsible for applying adhesive tape to rubber extrusions and coiling finished rubber products for packaging or further processing. The role requires manual dexterity, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and monitor taper and coiling stations on the production line.
- Apply adhesive or other specified tape to rubber hoses or extruded profiles as per product requirements.
- Coil rubber products (e.g., hoses, cords) neatly and securely for packaging or storage.
- Inspect products for surface defects, correct dimensions, and adherence to quality standards.
- Ensure proper tape tension, alignment, and overlap to meet specifications.
- Label and tag finished coils according to work order instructions.
- Report any defects, equipment malfunctions, or material shortages to the supervisor.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area and equipment.
- Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist in other production tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous manufacturing experience, particularly in rubber or hose production, is a plus.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Ability to stand, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
- Basic math and measurement skills.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with rubber products, tapes, and coiling machines.
- Experience working in a lean manufacturing or ISO-certified facility.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
