Job Description:
(This is a grant-funded, non-tenure track position through July 31, 2028. This is a 2-year, term limited postdoctoral appointment with no expectation of continuation beyond the stated end date)
Work Location: Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness, Martin D. Woodin Hall, Baton Rouge Campus.
Position Description: The Post Doctoral Researcher (2 year) positions primary purpose is to assist the faculty member with data management, analysis, and writing paper; support with mentoring and guiding research assistants and team members; and attend professional conferences, seminars, and workshops to present project findings. This position reports to the Dr. Raghav Goyal, Assistant Professor. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements: Ph.D. in Applied/Agricultural Economics, Economics, or related field completed by July 2025; candidate must contain strong theoretical and empirical research skills; candidate must have the ability to communicate research findings effectively through writing and presentations; evidence of research interest in at least one of the following areas: international and domestic agricultural trade, climate impacts, and supply chain resilience.
Desired Qualifications: Candidate should have familiarity with the large-scale economic, trade, or geospatial datasets (e.g., agricultural production, transportation, or international trade data). Experience working with applied econometric methods for panel data analysis, gravity models, or causal inference approaches is a significant plus, have a strong background in applied econometrics, statistical modeling, and experience with high-dimensional data analysis; proficiency in R and/or Python for data processing and econometric analysis, and SQL for database management and querying; experience with supercomputing systems for large-scale data processing and computational modeling and ArcGIS.
Salary and Benefits: Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. The LSU AgCenter has an attractive benefits package with a wide variety of benefit options. The LSU AgCenter includes the Louisiana Agricultural Experiment Station, which conducts agricultural-based research, and the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service, which extends the knowledge derived from research to the people of the state. The AgCenter is headquartered in Baton Rouge and has 12 "on campus" academic departments and five regions which are made up of 15 branch research stations and an extension office in each parish.
