About Boston Prep

Boston Prep is a college-preparatory charter public district, made up of a single-site middle and high school. In 2026-2027, our community will include 700 students in grades 6-12, nearly 500 alumni, over 150 faculty members, and hundreds of families. The majority of our students and families reside in Dorchester, Roxbury, Mattapan, and Hyde Park. As a charter public school, we welcome all students via an impartial public lottery, and hold the same high expectations and ambitions for all of our students, including those with special needs and English language learners.

As the Director of Student Life…

You will bear responsibility for developing a strong, positive, achievement-focused school culture that invests all students in their academic and personal achievement. This Director will be responsible for community identity formation and celebration through community meeting and for all non-academic programming, including clubs, sports, arts enrichments, and community service.

Key Responsibilities of the role include:

School Culture and Community:

  • Hours for this position are 7:15 am- 4:15 pm, Monday-Friday (in-person).
  • Develop and sustain a strong, positive, achievement-focused, celebratory school culture.
  • Prepare for weekly middle school and high school community meetings in collaboration with Assistant Principals and Grade Level Leads, ensuring that each meeting is robust, meaningful, and well-planned.
  • Align community meetings to advisory content and school calendar.
  • Plan community events and cultural celebrations in collaboration with school based leadership teams
  • Ad-hoc projects that support the building of a positive school culture.

Advisory:

  • Set vision for advisory and ensure all advisories are aligned to it.
  • Develop all advisors and provide adequate support such that all advisories are aligned in reaching the school's advisory vision. This includes professional development for all advisors and individual coaching of advisors.
  • Provide instructional materials for advisory lessons and exercises.
  • Support school-based teams in conducting Circle and advisory walkthroughs to ensure fidelity to model
  • Arrange house retreats and support planning for other advisory activities (i.e.-house time).

Fieldtrips and Events:

  • Work in collaboration with school-based leadership teams to create an annual calendar of events that focus on joy and affirms our community's diverse identities while supporting a culture centered around academic excellence
  • Support the coordination of and attend major school events
  • Coordinate field trips and experiential learning opportunities for students (includes foreign and domestic student travel)
  • Plan and execute career trips for students across the high school
  • Plan and execute college trips for students in grades 6-11

Extracurriculars and Community Partnerships

  • Manage the Athletic Director
  • Coordinate all club offerings
  • Track all club, sports, and summer enrichment participation and consistently communicate to students their status regarding these requirements
  • Research and develop partnerships with outside organizations for after-school activities and summer enrichment opportunities for students
  • Identifying competitive summer enrichment opportunities for students
  • Meet with high school students regarding their summer enrichment completion status and support them in reaching these requirements. Communicate with parents about their students' progress towards meeting these requirements.

Education, Qualifications, and Certifications/Licensure:

Education:

  • A bachelor's degree in education or a related field is required. Master's degree preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Previous teaching experience is preferred, in a charter school setting is a plus. Experience with diverse student populations and inclusive education practices is a plus.
  • Strong instructional and classroom management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in using technology for instructional purposes.
  • Commitment to continuous professional growth and student success

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is $110,722 - $128,260. Final compensation will be based on years of experience. More specific compensation information can be shared upon request.
