Orientation & Mobility (O&M) Specialist School-BasedLocation: Plainfield, IL (in-person) School Year: 2026 2027Caseload: ElementaryMake a Difference in Students' Lives!We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Orientation & Mobility (O&M) Specialist to join a supportive school district in Plainfield, Illinois for the 2026 2027 school year. This full-time opportunity focuses on an elementary caseload, helping students with visual impairments develop the mobility and independence skills they need to succeed in school and beyond.Position Details

- Provide direct Orientation & Mobility services to students with visual impairments in accordance with their IEPs
- Conduct O&M assessments and contribute to evaluation reports
- Develop individualized mobility goals and instructional plans
- Teach safe travel skills in school, home, and community environments as appropriate
- Collaborate with teachers, related service providers, and families to support student progress
- Maintain accurate documentation and participate in IEP meetings
- Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal special education guidelines
- Certification as an Orientation & Mobility Specialist (COMS)
- Experience working with school-aged students
- Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently while partnering effectively with multidisciplinary teams
