Job Description
Program Summary:The purpose of the FMCSD After School Program is to provide services and activities that help students improve in academics, attendance, behavior, promotion rates and graduation rates. Primary Responsibilities:The afterschool staff member, under the supervision of the Site Coordinator, facilitates and provides tutoring in small group or with individuals in accordance with program and center policies to provide individual academic support to students enrolled in the After-School Program.General Responsibilities:Maintain effective communication with the Site Coordinator and/or school personnel at the assigned site.Follow direction of Site Coordinator or other manager(s)with respect to policies and procedures, and adhere to program requirements.Lead, participate in and take responsibility for individualized after school academic program activities at the assigned site.Participate in out-of-school-time academic program planning and design.Meet with parents, students and community members; communicate in a respectful and confidential manner.Identify needed supplies and resources, and inform Site Coordinator.Coordinate with teachers, as needed about what subjects need to beParticipate in professional development and program-related training activities.Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Teaching or Iowa Substitute Teaching License.Ability to communicate effectively to multiple audiences
Willingness to work positively with and mentor youth
Pass required criminal background checks
Ability to perform all tasks identified in this job description
Valid Driver's LicensePreferred Competencies:Experience working in a school-or community-based out-of-school time organization
Knowledge of after school programs, communities and/or positive youth developmentCPR and First Aid CertificationsBilingual(English and Spanish) Physical Requirements: Bending, carrying, climbing, driving, lifting, pushing/pulling, reaching, sitting, standing, walking.
