Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE:The primary purpose of the Maintenance Superintendent position is to oversee manufacturing operations from a maintenance viewpoint and ensure successful transition of new products to the production floor.  Using manufacturing engineering practices, write routings/manufacturing instructions. This position is also responsible for participating in the hiring process, training maintenance employees and the direct supervision of maintenance supervisors to ensure areas are clean and safe.  ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES. Other duties may be assigned.
  1.  Manage the successful transition of new products and technology into the production arena.  Write appropriation requests and prepare quotes.
  2. Participate in concurrent engineering design reviews and evaluate and approve drawings,   
      routings/MIs, specs and other documents. May participate in ideation, concept        development, management of and direct supervision of product development or process           improvement initiatives.
  1. Evaluate and solve production problems by partnering with all departments to make the       
      Engineering department a positive influence on quality, productivity, efficiency and        uptime.
  1. Manage production operations including all activities of the shop floor and follow
      established procedures and approved processes.5.  Provide input for the department’s annual budget and assist with the planning and         scheduling of all budgeted projects6.  Provide input and direction to supervisors.  Assist in interviewing and selection process        for the hiring of new personnel in the Engineering Department.  Identify training and              development opportunities and planning.7.  Optimize inventory to reduce costs, while maintaining proper parts availability and insure        that all Enterprise Asset Management System functions are adhered to.QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Extensive knowledge in the following areas:Electrical, pneumatics, hydraulics, interpersonal skills, and be able to utilize all available resources to maximize effectiveness of the Engineering team.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:Certificates, licenses, registrationsAny Licenses, Registrations or Certificates should be submitted for job consideration.PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. May require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods through-out the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the work day. Proper lifting techniques required. May include lifting up to 25-50 pounds for files, on occasion.The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where under certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection. Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.
