Job Description

Job Title

2nd Shift: Monday thru Friday 2 p.m. - 11 p.m. Occasional weekend coverage (Saturdays and Sundays) is required based on needs.

Job Description

Team Leadership & Employee Development

  • Provide daily leadership, direction, and coaching to production leads and operators.
  • Conduct shift meetings, floor walks, and routine employee check-ins to maintain communication and accountability.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and provide ongoing recognition, development, and corrective coaching when needed.
  • Manage staffing, work assignments, cross-training efforts, and workforce planning to support production demands.
  • Promote a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and performance standards.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

  • Champion a culture of safety by reinforcing safe work practices, PPE compliance, and housekeeping standards.
  • Ensure all products are manufactured in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Partner with Quality and Operations teams to investigate nonconformances, implement corrective actions, and prevent recurring issues.
  • Support compliance with applicable quality systems, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.

Manufacturing Operations

  • Execute daily production schedules and allocate labor and equipment resources to maximize throughput.
  • Monitor production performance throughout the shift and address issues impacting efficiency, quality, or delivery commitments.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance to resolve equipment issues and support preventive maintenance activities.
  • Ensure proper material flow, inventory accuracy, and adherence to FIFO practices.
  • Drive operational execution to meet productivity and customer delivery goals.

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, efficiency, and waste reduction.
  • Promote Lean manufacturing principles, including 5S, visual management, setup reduction, and standardized work practices.
  • Analyze operational data and performance metrics to identify improvement opportunities and drive sustainable results.
  • Support employee training and skill development to strengthen operational capabilities.

Communication & Systems

  • Utilize ERP and manufacturing systems to track labor, production activity, inventory movement, and schedule performance.
  • Maintain accurate production records and reporting.
  • Ensure thorough shift-to-shift communication and provide leadership with timely operational updates.

Performance Measures Success in this role will be evaluated through key operational metrics, including:

  • Product quality and first-pass yield
  • On-time delivery and schedule attainment
  • Productivity, labor efficiency, and equipment utilization
  • Employee development, attendance, and retention
  • Continuous improvement results

The Successful Applicant

Required

  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within high-volume precision manufacturing.
  • 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience overseeing production teams.
  • Working knowledge of CNC machining, grinding operations, or similar manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Experience utilizing ERP/MRP, MES, or similar manufacturing systems.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and team-development skills.
  • Demonstrated success achieving safety, quality, delivery, and productivity objectives.

Preferred

  • Background in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with ISO or AS quality systems.
  • Aerospace, defense, or regulated manufacturing experience.
  • Bilingual capabilities (English/Spanish or other languages).

Education

  • Associate degree in a technical discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
