Job Description
Staff LPN must have the physical, emotional, & technical abilities to:
- Work under the direction of the Director of Nurses
- Maintain knowledge of each resident from his/her biosketch and family interview
- Participate in Resident care plan meetings
- Accept & verify resident medications delivered from pharmacy
- Verify receipt of physician orders for medications and other treatments
- Administer medications per physician's order
- Clarify physician orders as needed by calling the physician or his/her designee
- Insure all medication documentation is current and correct, including medication administration forms, physician orders, change of dosages, etc.
- Insure medication room is completely stocked with all required continuous, PRN, over-the-counter, and other medications as ordered by the physician
- Insure medication room is secured at all times
- Follow facility policies regarding disposal of medications
- Communicate, as needed, with resident family members and other legal representatives in a courteous, professional manner
