Job Description

Pay Range: $16–$25 per hour, depending on experience. Progression based on demonstrated skills.
Location: Uptown Kingston, NY
Company: MiniProto | www.miniproto.com
Hours: Flexible, Part-Time to Full-Time

Who We Are

MiniProto is a fast-moving startup specializing in custom wire harnesses—the essential nervous system of electronics and machines. Our work supports industries including industrial automation, drones, agricultural technology, and medical devices. If you like working with your hands, have an eye for precision, and enjoy building things, this is a great opportunity to turn that into a career.

What You'll Do

As a Wire Harness Assembler, you'll be responsible for assembling high-quality wire harnesses with precision and consistency. Your tasks will include:

  • Cutting, stripping, and crimping wires with accuracy.
  • Following detailed instructions to assemble harnesses to exact specifications.
  • Using hand tools such as crimpers, wire strippers, and soldering irons.
  • Operating stationary equipment used in wire processing.
  • Managing 3D printer jobs for production components.
  • Inspecting and testing finished products to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Working in a focused, hands-on environment where craftsmanship matters.
  • Contributing to documentation and process improvements (for senior candidates)

Who You Are

This role is open to a wide range of applicants—from hands-on hobbyists to experienced technicians. You might be a great fit if you:

  • Have hobbies that require fine motor skills, such as:
    • Model building (RC cars, dioramas, scale models)
    • Soldering & electronics (custom keyboards, circuit mods, small DIY repairs)
    • Car or motorcycle wiring (audio installs, lighting, DIY repairs)
    • Jewelry making, sewing, or other hands-on crafts
  • Have strong attention to detail and patience for precise, repetitive tasks.
  • Prefer structured, self-paced learning and improving your skills over time.
  • Work well independently but also appreciate a supportive team environment.

Progression & Growth

MiniProto offers a self-paced skill matrix progression system, allowing you to advance as you master new techniques. Your growth is based on demonstrated skills rather than time on the job, giving motivated individuals the opportunity to progress quickly into more advanced roles.

What We Offer

  • Flexible hours in the part-time to full-time range (minimum 6-hour shifts, 16 hours per week).
  • Hands-on experience in a growing industry with real, tangible work.
  • A clear growth path based on skill progression, not just seniority.
  • A workplace that values precision and craftsmanship, not just speed.
  • A team that respects technical skill and attention to detail.

Requirements

  • Comfort working with hand tools, stationary equipment, and 3D printer job management.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and reach overhead, in accordance with OSHA guidelines.
  • Strong hand-eye coordination and comfort working with small components.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain quality.
  • No formal experience required—just a willingness to learn and improve.
  • Experience with wire harnessing, IPC-620, soldering, or assembly documentation is a plus, but not required.
