What You’ll Do

• Perform technically proficient 2D, M-mode, and Doppler cardiac echocardiograms for adult and pediatric patients
• Coordinate exam logistics with hospital departments (e.g., scheduling, transport, patient flow, and accurate billing information entry)
• Assist the cardiologist during exams by preparing/measuring relevant echocardiographic components and supporting diagnostic documentation
• Support smooth operations by delivering/picking up/delivering dictations in a timely manner
• Monitor patient needs during the exam and report changes in condition to the physician or nurse in charge
• Maintain room readiness, including ordering supplies, keeping exam rooms clean/supplied, and documenting/logging exams and patient records
• Participate in Performance Improvement activities and support equipment quality control/repair coordination
• Share responsibility for on-call coverage for echo emergency exams outside regular working hours (per department policy)

What You NeedRequired

• A.R.D.M.S./CCI registered or registry eligible (or comparable national accreditation)
• State of New Mexico Echo Sonographer License
• BLS certification issued through American Heart Association
• Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively across disciplines
• Strong organizational skills; ability to work at a rapid pace under stressful conditions
• Manual dexterity to perform echocardiograms

Preferred

• Two years of actively doing echocardiograms
• Two-year allied health education program related to patient care (e.g., diagnostic medical sonographer, radiologic technologist, respiratory therapist, occupational/physical therapy, or registered nurse)
