Job Description
- Oversees the scheduling and coordinating of the automotive activities of the terminal. This includes the ramping and de-ramping of automobiles based on the fluctuation of business-level needs.
- Assures that personnel is meeting the performance levels of the productivity goals and maintaining acceptable service levels based on set company standards.
- Assists in the company’s safety policies by upholding a high level of standard for all employees.
- Monitor the handling of vehicles in such a manner that is cost-effective for the company while meeting the customer’s service standards.
- Responsible for determining manpower levels, personnel schedules, and duties assigned.
- Directs contact with customers ensuring that all customer requirements are met and the security of all operations is confined within the railyard.
- Consistent daily contact is maintained with the Assistant Terminal Managers and Terminal Manager for informational purposes and recommendations to improve productivity and cost controls.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Valid Drivers License.
- Advanced knowledge of the railroad industry from a vocational education institute, apprenticeship, on-the-job training, and/or similar supervisory work experience. (Preferred but not required)
- Ability to assist in conflict resolution and mediation between co-workers.
- Proven managerial skills to include ability as a strong leader and positive motivator, successful with employee training, a good understanding of a Collective Bargaining Agreement, government regulations, and industry standards.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to coordinate with a variety of individuals.
