Job Description
- Monitor the thrift store’s interior and exterior to deter theft, vandalism, or disruptive behavior.
- Conduct regular patrols of the premises, including sales floors, stockrooms, and parking areas.
- Prevent theft at the front of store by performing receipt checks for exposed high-dollar merchandise.
- Greet and interact professionally with customers while maintaining vigilance.
- Utilize de-escalation tactics when there are disturbances.
- Respond promptly to incidents, disturbances, or emergencies, following ARC guidelines.
- When necessary, coordinate with store management and law enforcement when there is suspected theft. Call 911 for any high-risk situations.
- If available monitor security cameras, alarms, and other surveillance equipment, reporting irregularities to management.
- Ensure compliance with store policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Provide assistance to store management during opening and/or closing procedures.
- Assist with bank deposits.
- Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance.
- Document and report daily activities, incidents, or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel.
- Observe and report suspicious activity and protect Salvation Army property and staff by maintaining a safe and secure environment.
- Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles.
- May assist with store functions as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Security experience preferred.
- Must be able to write incident reports as needed.
