Job Description

Prestage Farms is seeking for a dependable and motivated Hog Loader with the potential to advance into a crew leadership role. This position is responsible for the safe, humane, and efficient loading of hogs for transportation, with a strong emphasis on animal welfare, biosecurity, and teamwork. The ideal candidate will have prior livestock handling experience and demonstrate leadership qualities that can grow into supervising a team of loaders.

Responsibilities

Supervise the loading of market swine.
Open gates and move marked swine to the truck driver and holding area according to instructions.
Adjust loading ramp and assist truck driver when backing his or her vehicle.
Supervise the cleanup of truck, cutting boards, boots, etc.
Responsible for the accountability of daily paperwork.

Requirements

Valid Class C Driver’s License with a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
Ability to read and understand safety rules, operational procedures, and maintenance manuals.
Capable of writing routine reports and professional correspondence.
Comfortable speaking to groups such as employees, growers, or visitors.
Strong math skills, including the ability to work with fractions, decimals, percentages, and interpret data such as bar graphs.
Previous experience handling livestock (hogs preferred) in production or transportation settings.
Solid understanding of animal welfare and handling best practices.
Able to work both independently and collaboratively in physically demanding, fast-paced environments.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Willing and able to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
Reliable transportation and strong attendance record are essential.
