Our academic excellence is promoted by our thorough and demanding curricula, the high expectations of our teachers, and the culture which supports choice, critical thinking, problem-solving, and character development.About Your Role as a Science Teacher (8th Grade)This is a hands-on, full-time position with day-to-day duties that include providing comprehensive instructional delivery and curriculum development, focusing on engaging science lessons and adapting instruction to meet diverse needs. The role includes designing assessments, supporting student centered learning, student progress, and maintaining a positive classroom environment. Effective communication and collaboration with stakeholders are essential, along with managing classroom resources and participating in professional development, such as The Leader in Me initiative.Shift Hours: M-F, 7:30AM to 4PM (weekends as needed)Compensation: $58,003 - $79,685 Essential Duties and Major Responsibilities:Instructional Leadership

Implement social emotional learning in alignment with the school's program and integrate thoughts the instructional day.
Prepare, develop, and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with state standards and the school's curriculum framework.
Prepare and deliver engaging and interactive lessons tailored to meet the diverse needs of learners.
Collaborate with fellow educators, staff, and administration to enhance instructional materials, teaching metodologies and progress towards building goals.
Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities to ensure educational goals are met.
Plan and supervise class projects, field trips, visits by guest speakers, or other experiential activities, and guide students in learning from those activities.

Student Management

Monitor and assess student performance through observation and formal assessments, providing constructive feedback to encourage academic growth.
Facilitate conflict resolution among students and monitor their social and emotional well-being.
Maintain a safe, organized, and dynamic classroom environment that is conducive to learning and fosters a love for education.
Effectively manage student behavior, enforce school rules and policies, and address student issues related to health, conduct, and progress.
Address students' issues related to health, conduct, and academic progress.

Administrative & Community Relations

Foster and maintain positive relationships with parents, guardians, community groups, and other stakeholders.
Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and school programs, ensuring transparency and collaboration.
Represent the school at meetings and events as required, serving as a liaison between the school and the broader community.
Complete necessary administrative duties, including grading and preparing progress reports, to ensure accurate and timely documentaion.
Utilize technology to prepare instructional materials and enchance instructional delivery and engagte students in thelearning process.

Resource Management

Manage classroom resources by selecting, storing, ordering, and inventorying equipment and supplies, including proper student usage.

Assist with other duties as assigned.Education Requirements:

A bachelor's degree is required with a focus in Secondary Education is preferred.
A valid Colorado state in-field teaching license or equivalent is required.
A master's degree in Secondary Education or a related field is preferred.

Type of Experience Needed to be Successful:

1 + years of experience as a state-issued or special services teacher is preferred.

Specialized Skills

Intermediate understanding of educational theories, teaching strategies, and instructional methods tailored for students in 6th- 8th grade.

Basic knowledge in child psychology and the developmental stages (physical, social, and cognitive) of children aged 11-14, and be able to use that knowledge to tailor instruction and manage a classroom.

Intermediate knowledge of state and national curriculum standards and can align classroom activities to these benchmarks effectively.

Advanced knowledge in educational communication and can communicate effectively with students, parents, guardians, colleagues, and administrators, both orally and in writing.

Advanced classroom management knowledge and is skilled in creating and maintaining a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.

Basic knowledge in student engagement and is skilled at designing and implementing engaging, differentiated lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students, capture student attention, and promote student participation.

Intermediate knowledge of formative and summative student assessments and uses that knowledge to assess student learning, providing constructive feedback, and adjusting instruction based on performance data.

Basic instructional knowledge and can modify teaching methods and instructional materials to meet the varying needs and interests of students.

Intermediate knowledge of differentiation in education and can understand the needs and challenges of individual students, including those from diverse backgrounds.

Advanced educational communications knowledge and can collaborate and work with other teachers, support staff, and school administrators to foster a cooperative working environment, as well as with families and students.

Basic knowledge of Leader In Me and 7 Habits materials and can integrate these philosophies into daily instructional methods.
