Job Description

The Brick Bodies Group Exercise Cycle Instructor's goal is to provide world class group exercise experiences that are safe, effective, and exceed the members' expectations in the cycle studio. The Group Exercise Cycle Instructor is a vital connection to our members and plays a key role in the company's brand promise of Making People Feel Comfortable and our core purpose of Changing People's Lives. The group exercise cycle instructor is part of the Brick Bodies team and is under the supervision of the Group Exercise Director.

DEVELOP AND MAINTAIN RELATIONSHIPS WITH:

  • Group Exercise Director
  • Group Exercise Education Director
  • Brick Bodies Members
  • General Managers
  • Group Exercise Instructors
  • All club associates (MCs, PTs, Service Desk, Little Bricks, etc.)

EXPECTED OUTCOMES:

  • Deliver world class group exercise experiences that are safe, effective, and motivational in the indoor cycling studio, including proper use of music in the class setting and proper volume control.
  • Assist in the education of members about safe and effective exercises in an indoor cycle class
  • Demonstrate understanding of the human cardiovascular systems through proper coaching cues to target the desired system during class. Coach proper pedaling mechanics and cadences to achieve the class goals.
  • Achieve agreed upon class attendance targets for each scheduled class.
  • Start class at the time listed on the GX schedule. Arrive with enough time to set up equipment and music and assist members if needed prior to the start time.
  • Begin and end all classes on time as scheduled.
  • Be prepared for all scheduled classes.
  • Teach the class format that is scheduled.
  • Post classes on the appropriate platform when a sub is needed.
  • Maintain department expectations:
  • Download and utilize appropriate apps for subs, attendance, and rosters.
  • Enter class attendance for all scheduled classes immediately after the class is completed.
  • Utilize the substitution process within the appropriate app for all required substitutions.
  • Read and action, when necessary, all posted notices & communications.
  • Attend semi-annual Group Exercise Team Meetings.
  • Maintain certifications and continuing education for all actively taught programs, including CPR.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous group exercise teaching experience is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to properly set the bike seat and handlebar positions for participants.
  • Proper and consistent use of the indoor cycle console computer as well as other technologies available in the room for class setup and delivery.
  • Ability to teach participants of all abilities.
  • Instructors are required to wear indoor cycling shoes. If an instructor does not have the proper shoes to fit the bikes, he/she should purchase them prior to teaching.
  • Current Group Exercise Certification from a nationally recognized organization such as ACE or AFAA or cycle specific certification from a nationally recognized organization (Madd Dogg, Schwinn, Les Mills, etc.).
  • Current CPR/AED certification or acquisition of CPR/AED certification within 3 months from date of hire.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and class management skills.
  • Excellent communication both verbally and visually.
