Unitec is part of American Elevator Group (AEG), North America's largest independent elevator service company. Backed by Arcline Investment Management, AEG has a significant footprint in the elevator industry and is rapidly growing. Unitec seeks an experienced Elevator Maintenance Mechanic for its New York City (NYC) location.
As a Class "A" Elevator Maintenance Mechanic, you will ensure the safe and reliable operation of elevators and other lifting equipment. You will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing the equipment, troubleshooting, and resolving any mechanical issues.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect elevators of all types and makes, diagnose faulty operation, make necessary repairs and adjustments, and troubleshoot problems.
- Diagnose equipment deficiencies and recommend significant changes or requirements.
- Install, maintain, and repair elevators, escalators, and other lifting equipment.
- Analyze and repair failures, especially in emergencies.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues.
- Repair or replace defective parts.
- Responsible for conducting regular inspections to ensure equipment is maintained and functioning correctly.
- Respond to emergency repair calls promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of all repairs and maintenance performed.
- Provide excellent customer service to building owners and occupants.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment & Hazards:
- Elevator Mechanics work in various building types, including commercial, residential, and industrial settings.
- Exposure to heights, confined spaces, and loud noises
- Potential exposure to hazardous materials or conditions, including electrical shock, falls, and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
Special Physical Demands:
- Elevator Mechanics must be able to lift heavy objects and equipment up to fifty pounds (50lbs) or more, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
- The job may require standing for prolonged periods and working in awkward positions.
- Manual dexterity for handling small tools and parts., good vision for close work, and reading schematics.
