Established in 1949 and headquartered in Portland, Maine, the global company has divisions and offices around the world in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. Diversified is a third-generation, family-owned business. Join our team as an Account Executive!

ABOUT THE ROLE

As an Account Executive within this team, you'll be the driving force behind revenue growth across a portfolio that includes The Running Event, Switchback, and Running Insight - three brands that sit at the heart of the running and outdoor industry. You'll own the full sales cycle, from first outreach to closed deal, building the kind of trusted client partnerships that keep exhibitors, sponsors, and advertisers coming back year after year. This is a high-visibility, high-impact role where your market knowledge, your hustle, and your relationships directly shape the growth of a portfolio you'll be proud to represent.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Drive Revenue: Meet and exceed revenue goals through the sale of exhibit space, sponsorships, digital advertising, and ancillary products across The Running Event, Switchback, and Running Insight.
  • Build Your Pipeline: Generate and maintain a strong book of business through proactive outbound outreach via phone, email, social media, and in-person engagement at industry events and conferences.
  • Grow Client Relationships: Cultivate long-term partnerships with exhibitors, sponsors, and advertisers through consistent follow-up and a genuinely high standard of customer service.
  • Stay Ahead of the Market: Keep a close pulse on trends in the running and outdoor industries to identify new opportunities and position the portfolio competitively.
  • Keep the CRM Current: Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of all sales activity, pipeline stages, and client communications in Salesforce so nothing falls through the cracks.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with Marketing, Content, and Customer Service teams to align on audience insights, shared goals, and the best ways to serve your clients.
  • Be the Voice of the Customer: Capture and communicate client needs and market feedback internally to help shape product development and event strategy.
  • Represent the Brand: Show up at industry events and conferences as a knowledgeable, credible presence for the Running Event, Switchback, and Running Insight.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Sales Experience: 2-4 years in sales, account management, or business development, ideally within events, media, sports, or the running and outdoor industry.
  • Industry Passion: : A genuine connection to the running and/or the outdoor community - you understand the brands, the retailers, and the trends that move this industry.
  • Consultative Selling Ability: A proven track record of building compelling value propositions, navigating complex sales conversations, and closing with confidence.
  • CRM Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Salesforce or a comparable CRM, paired with strong organizational habits and sharp attention to detail.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication across all channels - you can craft a compelling email, lead a client call, and present on a stage with equal confidence.
  • Collaborative Spirit: Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine investment in team success - you're as good at working alongside colleagues as you are at winning new business.
  • Tech Comfort: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard business applications.

This role involves frequent travel, four or more times per year, including travel to represent the portfolio at key industry events and conferences.
