Pay Range: $140,000 - $170,000

We are looking for an Account Manager to join our Performance Chemicals team remotely.

As an innovative partner, BASF's Performance Chemicals division offers chemicals for various customer industries, such as plastics, automotive, refining, lubricants, oilfield and mining. Our highly qualified and experienced team with outstanding market knowledge as well as our innovation platform and application know-how ensure our technological competence to provide excellent solutions to our customers.

As an Account Manager for BASF's Downstream Plastic Additives portfolio, you will serve as the primary commercial contact for assigned customer accounts, building strong relationships and identifying opportunities to drive business growth. You will align customer needs with BASF's innovative solutions, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and deliver value while achieving sales objectives across key industries and strategic customers.

As a Account Manager, you create chemistry by...

  • Serving as the primary point of contact for assigned customers, building strong relationships and providing strategic commercial support.
  • Driving sales growth across BASF's downstream plastic additives portfolio, including antioxidants, light stabilizers, and functional blends, to achieve volume, revenue, and margin targets.
  • Developing and executing strategic account plans aligned with customer needs and BASF's regional and global business objectives.
  • Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities within existing accounts while expanding relationships with prospective customers.
  • Gathering and sharing market intelligence and competitive insights to support commercial decision-making and growth strategies.
  • Collaborating with Technical Service, Product Management, Supply Chain, and Customer Support teams to deliver comprehensive customer solutions.
  • Leading pricing discussions, contract negotiations, and agreement renewals while ensuring compliance with BASF policies and internal guidelines.
  • Maintaining accurate sales forecasts, opportunity pipelines, and customer activity records through Salesforce and other reporting tools.

If you...

  • Possess a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Business, or a related field; an MBA is preferred.
  • Bring experience within the Plastic Additives industry, which is considered a strong asset.
  • Possess 10+ years of related sales experience.
  • Demonstrate the ability to lead complex negotiations, manage contracts, and drive profitable growth.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of pricing strategies, margin management, value selling, and return on investment (ROI).
  • Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer-centric mindset.
  • Possess a solid understanding of sales processes, contract workflows, pricing mechanics, and CRM systems, including Salesforce.

Pay transparency

BASF is committed to pay transparency practices. The competitive Pay Range for this role is $140,000 - $170,000. Actual pay will be determined based on education, certifications, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
