Accounting Analyst

Clayton Services is searching for an Accounting Analyst to join a growing company in the Katy, Texas area. The Accounting Analyst will support accounting across a multi-entity organization while becoming a key internal resource for the company's ERP system, financial data, and accounting processes. This position is ideal for an accounting professional who is exceptionally comfortable with technology and enjoys figuring out how systems and processes work. The ideal candidate understands accounting fundamentals but also enjoys working with ERP systems, analyzing data, improving workflows, solving non-routine accounting problems, and finding better ways to get things done. Job Type: Direct Hire Pay Rate: $85,000 - $100,000 plus bonus Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, 401(k), HSA, PTO, cell phone reimbursement, and more. Accounting Analyst Responsibilities:

• Support accounting activities across multiple related business entities and project-based operations.
• Prepare, review, and post journal entries, with an emphasis on non-routine and more complex transactions.
• Manage intercompany accounting activity, including due-to/due-from transactions, transfers, and reconciliations.
• Assist with month-end close, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting.
• Research unusual accounting transactions and work with internal teams to determine appropriate accounting treatment.
• Serve as a key internal resource and develop into a power user of the company's ERP system.
• Set up and maintain general ledger accounts, products, analytic dimensions, project codes, and other accounting-related ERP configurations.
• Review accounting and operational workflows to identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and better use of the ERP system.
• Analyze, query, manipulate, and organize financial data to support accounting, reporting, and operational needs.
• Work with operations and other departments to ensure transactions are recorded within the appropriate entity, account, and project.
• Partner with third-party ERP, accounting, and technology consultants to communicate business requirements and assist with system enhancements.
• Help develop and improve accounting processes as the organization, its projects, and its systems continue to evolve.

Accounting Analyst Skills and Abilities:

• Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, general ledger activity, and financial statements.
• Hands-on experience working within an ERP or other integrated accounting system.
• Strong aptitude for technology, financial systems, and working with data.
• Experience with intercompany accounting and multi-entity transactions.
• Strong Excel skills with the ability to organize, manipulate, analyze, and interpret financial data.
• Ability to learn new systems quickly and understand how system configurations and workflows affect accounting and financial reporting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate transactions that do not have an obvious or routine solution.
• Proactive and self-directed with the willingness to take ownership, ask questions, and work through unfamiliar situations.
• Adaptable and comfortable working in an environment where systems, processes, and procedures continue to evolve.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across accounting, operations, management, and outside consultants.
• Experience with ERP implementation, conversion, configuration, data migration, process improvement, or accounting automation is highly preferred.
• Experience with project-based accounting is highly preferred.
• Experience with Odoo is a plus but not required.
• Construction, real estate, homebuilding, manufacturing, engineering, oil and gas, or another project-driven industry background is a plus.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is required.

Accounting Analyst Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
• 2+ years of professional experience in accounting, finance, or a closely related field preferred.
• Previous experience working with ERP-based accounting systems required.
• Multi-entity and intercompany accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Project-based accounting experience strongly preferred.
• CPA certification is not required.
